Come join the Cyber Resiliency Engineering team! As part of this team, you will work with others researching and applying cutting edge cyber security solutions to protect our nation’s networks and computer systems from advanced threats.

Department L522, Cyber Resiliency in the Cyber Solutions Innovation Center, is seeking a group leader (GL) for its Threat-Informed Cyber Resiliency Group. This group focuses on leveraging its deep understanding of cyber threats to guide the application of cyber resiliency techniques and approaches to our nation’s most critical systems and infrastructure.

The successful candidate will be expected to develop, guide, and contribute to a wide range of high-impact work across MITRE’s work program. The candidate will be expected to effectively engage portfolio and program leadership as well as external sponsors in helping to strengthen and grow the division and department work program. They are a motivated technical leader with a passion for growing, mentoring, and leading a team of highly motivated engineers.

As a GL in L522, you will be an important part of the department’s leadership team, providing technical thought leadership and strategic guidance to help the department continue to evolve and meet the needs of our sponsors. The GL will promote capability area development, staff technical and leadership skills, job satisfaction, and recognition of staff contributions. The GL is responsible for matching staff to projects that leverage their skills and interests, ensuring high quality, timely products are delivered, and handling HR matters for the group members. A GL is expected to balance management duties with direct work program contributions.

Key Functions:

  • Ensure Staff deliver quality information and products

  • Work with government sponsors to identify and define their critical cyber resiliency challenges

  • Develop data-driven technical products to outline recommended solutions in a clear and concise manner

  • Propose innovative concepts and solutions and lead teams to instantiate those concepts

  • Provide technical leadership to support sponsor missions

  • Possess motivation to expand knowledge and willingness to take risks to explore new opportunities

  • Stay abreast of current and emerging cyber threats and trends

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS and 5-8 years related experience including 2 years of leadership experience

  • Strong knowledge of advanced cyber threats and adversary methodologies

  • Ability to develop new ideas and techniques for advancing the practice of cyber resiliency

  • Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or applicants who are eligible for security clearances.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Collaborative and adaptive leadership competencies

  • Prior project/task or group leadership experience

  • Expertise in one or more of department capability areas (Resilient Architectures & Mission Assurance, Applied Resiliency Solutions, Active Defense & Resiliency Technologies, Threat-Informed Resiliency, or Strategic Resiliency Research)

  • Possess and maintain a Secret level security clearance

  • Architectural and operational vulnerability analysis

  • Incident Analysis / Response

  • Deep knowledge of cyber threats, attack vectors, methods, attacks and countermeasures

  • Red Team and/or Pen Testing experience

  • Cyber Threat Intelligence experience

  • TS/SCI
