General Electric Lead Quality Engineer in Billerica, Massachusetts

Role Summary:

The Lead Quality Engineer is responsible for providing quality support for the procurement and manufacture of flow, gas and moisture measurement and analysis products for the BHGE Panametrics business. The individual will be responsible for supporting supplier quality, daily production needs, contributing to business growth, and driving a continuous improvement mindset.

Essential Responsibilities:

In the role of Lead Quality Engineer, you will:

  • Drive continuous improvement in Quality systems, product yield and customer satisfaction

  • Coordinate, direct, and manage supplier quality activities with focus on issue resolution (CA / PA), supplier approval, qualification, development, process control, and quality assurance consistent with Global Sourcing quality initiatives

  • Perform internal and supplier audits to ensure product and process compliance with procedures, regulatory requirements, industry standards and best practices

  • Apply technical and quality knowledge and practical experience to the analysis, investigation, and solution of quality problems to assure that prompt and effective corrective action is taken

  • Represent the business in the support of external audits from customers and regulatory agencies

  • Serve as the technical focal point for supplier activities directed toward process control and quality assurance of site material and components

  • Drive continuous improvement of internal & supplier quality performance through Six Sigma and Lean Six Sigma principles and methodology

  • Monitor and drive for Cost of Poor Quality reduction

  • Monitor non-conformance performance / trends, and identify and drive process improvement, root cause analysis, and corrective actions

  • Provide technical guidance to suppliers towards assuring product/process compliance with engineering drawings, customer flowdown requirements and specifications

  • Occasionally travel to supplier sites to support audit performance activities will be required Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) from an accredited college or university

  • Minimum 2 years quality, operations and / or engineering experience Desired Characteristics:

  • Minimum 5 years of combined experience working in a quality or engineering function on complex electromechanical systems in manufacturing environments

  • Graduate of GE's Operations Management Leadership Program (OMLP) or similar leadership program

  • In depth knowledge of ISO9001 / AS9100 quality management systems

  • Lead auditor certification

  • Previous supplier quality management experience

  • Knowledge of quality and statistical analysis tools

  • Six Sigma Blackbelt or Greenbelt certified

  • Knowledge, skill and experience in collaboration with a wide range of functional disciplines such as Engineering, Customer & Product Support and Sourcing.

  • Eagerness to get involved in hands-on work

  • Proficient project management skills

  • Working knowledge of SAP

  • Experience in a regulated industry

  • Strong organizational, analytic, and problem-solving skills
