This job is onsite M-F at the Teledyne FLIR facility in Billerica, MA and is not a remote position. Local candidates will be given preference.
Senior Image Processing Engineer
The Sr. Image Processing Engineer will join a multidisciplinary team responsible for the development of FLIR’s next generation multi-spectral (infrared, low light and visible light) imaging systems. The work entails the design and implementation of advanced, real-time, image processing algorithms that execute on state-of-the-art vision processors, employing multiple processing cores and a variety of hardware accelerators. The position requires self-motivation and the ability to work independently on complex systems and collaborate in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
Collaborate with Engineering Management, Business Development, and Product Management to identify algorithms and use-cases that provide value to our customers.
Search public literature for algorithms that can enhance the quality and usefulness of the real-time imagery that is presented to the users of FLIR products. Algorithms can be applied directly or in combination. Customize image processing algorithms to meet the unique requirements and constraints of FLIR products and customers.
Simulate and evaluate the performance of candidate algorithms.
Work with software and hardware/FPGA developers to create resource-efficient, real-time versions of selected image processing algorithms.
Apply AI methodologies to dynamically select, combine and apply context appropriate image processing algorithms.
BS and MS degrees in computer science, mathematics or electrical engineering.
Minimum of 8-12 years of relevant image processing and software engineering experience.
Strong image processing background (e.g. point functions, convolution filters, color correction, dead pixel replacement, detail enhancement, image scaling, image warping, feature extraction, feature correlation, image fusion, super-resolution, Gaussian noise reduction, impulse noise reduction, haze penetration, atmospheric turbulence compensation, de-scintillation filters, etc.).
Ability to design and implement real-time, embedded, image processing subsystems, using asymmetric multiprocessing techniques, in a multithreaded environment.
A complete command of the C/C++ programming language.
Experience with computer vision and video analytics, using convolutional neural networks.
Experience with multispectral image processing techniques.
Experience with the CUDA image processing architecture.
Experience with object-oriented design methodology and concepts.
