The Alexion Product to Patient Project Manager (AP2P Project Manager) provides foundational project management and administrative support to Alexion’s innovative approach to drug development—the Product to Patient model. Reporting into the AP2P Lead, this role supports the implementation and maintenance of Alexion’s Product to Patient operating model (AP2P), which serves as the operational umbrella to all initiatives advancing drug and device development across Alexion.
A key partner to the AP2P Lead, the AP2P working team, and Alexion’s Global Program Teams and Global Medicine Teams, the AP2P Project Manager connects relevant initiatives across Alexion to the AP2P model via project management essentials. This role will help functions to onboard to the new way of working and support them in developing specific strategies, guidance, training, and materials for integrating into the model. The AP2P Project Manager will lead by influence and work with a cross-functional team to develop operating model guidance and templates. This role will own the AP2P SharePoint, other relevant tools that support meeting management, elements of the AP2P playbook as well as update and implement AP2P planning and training materials for all levels of the organization.
The successful delivery of processes, guidance, and training for the AP2P model ties to the overall longevity of Alexion’s pipeline and lifecycle portfolio. Given the enterprise nature of the AP2P model, it is crucial that the AP2P Project Manager drives effective communication to and with key stakeholders across Alexion, consolidates data, and provides support to teams and functions as required.
Support the integration of initiatives under the AP2P umbrella by maintaining and developing tools, templates, metrics and analytics, and by providing administrative support for training to teams onboarding into the AP2P model
Establish deep knowledge of internal processes and requirements to deliver products to patients; function as a resource for information about governance meetings, providing operational support to functions and teams to integrate into cross-functional processes and to successfully execute on the Alexion portfolio
Drive continuous monitoring of AP2P implementation progress, goals, metrics, decisions and major milestones via respective project management tools; ensure action items are completed and decisions are implemented; maintain the decision and action log and elevate issues as necessary to the AP2P Lead and the AP2P working team, respectively and other appropriate functional leaders as needed
Support Global Medicine Team Leads, Global Program Team Leads, Global Program Managers and their respective asset/indication teams in implementing AP2P, navigating governance, driving stage gate reviews, and reporting
Support training of Global Medicine Teams, Global Program Teams, and relevant cross-functional sub-teams on the AP2P model team structure, governance, process, and decision-making approach
Support change management activities and materials as updates, improvements, and new initiatives are integrated into the AP2P model; drive documentation and ensure consistent material availability to all stakeholders, facilitate cross-functional alignment meetings and own the version control of AP2P materials
Maintain AP2P reference documents and templates; drive interlinking of respective materials for each initiative within the AP2P model to ensure data quality
Manage and oversee implementation of interactive tools (SharePoint, Team sites, etc.) to share AP2P guidance and foster team collaboration; facilitate alignment meetings across functions to ensure buy-in for implementation
Manage upfront planning and adherence to Alexion’s Stage Gate Review process by maintaining appropriate guidance, training, and documentation for the Global Program Teams on the AP2P SharePoint
Manage Governance meeting logistics, meeting preparation, attendance, and decision calendar
Prepare AP2P portfolio reports, track relevant KPIs, and proactively identify issues and work on mitigation plans
Drive win-win outcomes within the Strategic Planning and Portfolio Management (SPPM) team as well as across Project Manager functions by establishing and communicating expectations, motivating individuals, and providing honest and specific feedback
Work closely with the SPPM team, especially with the R&D Portfolio Management Operations team to identify and contribute to departmental process improvements and initiatives
Bachelor’s degree in life sciences or related field
Minimum of 3 years of experience in within one or more functional role(s) in pharmaceutical R&D drug development, biotechnology drug development, or related industry; R&D or enterprise operations experience preferred
Minimum of 3 years of experience managing and leading projects / programs in combination with 3-5 years within the biopharmaceutical or healthcare industry; R&D, Commercial or enterprise operations experience preferred
Track record in executing effective project management in cross-functional initiatives or program development teams
Knowledge of project management discipline and its application required to deliver time, cost, quality, and risk management to teams
Experience with strategic level reporting and systems needs of an R&D organization and building the appropriate practical solutions
Highly skilled in PM systems administration, design and maintenance, including analytical skills, decision-making capabilities, and excellent knowledge of software tools / solution principles (Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, Smartsheet, SharePoint, One Pager Pro, etc.)
Demonstrated results in creating and managing complex project plans, including experience with global teams, budget and vendor management with the end-to-end view in mind
Demonstrated ability to effectively implement tools and techniques of project management, such as the development and management of integrated operational plans, critical path management, project risk management, decision analysis and meeting management in a fast-paced environment
Proven track record on delivering tasks with a commitment to continuous improvement for personal and team goals
Experience in generating executive-level communication and presentations in both written and visual (PowerPoint) mediums
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent proficiency a plus

This position can be based from any of the following Alexion locations; San Francisco, CA, Boston, MA, New Haven, CT, or Blue Bell, PA or be remote/virtual, based anywhere in the United states and may require up to 20% travel.
