Certified Business Continuity Planner (CBCP) or Certificate of the Business Continuity Institute or Certified Business Continuity Manager (CBCM) or equivalent

Required Knowledge and Skills:

Business Continuity Manager will cover the entire DR life cycle, identifying potential operational impacts that may threaten the client’s business, and providing a framework for building resilience, mitigating risks, and responding effectively to disruptions. It safeguards the interests of key client stakeholders by protecting the reputation, brand, and value creating activities:

  • Ensures that the proper planning and testing have been carried out to facilitate the timely recovery to normal business operations, including relocation to an alternate facility;

  • Manages defining the scope and approach and implement DR testing strategies in accordance with the business needs through initiation, planning, execution, controlling, and completion;

  • Familiarity with automated recovery options available in the marketplace and with methodologies that can be employed for internal and external recovery;

  • Assists internal audits in the development of appropriate metrics to access compliance with Enterprise DR/BCP guidelines and standards;

  • Works with Senior management and appropriate business units to prioritize DR/BCP critical systems and initiatives;

  • Maintains knowledge of changing technologies, and provides recommendations for adoption of new technologies or policies appropriate for business continuity and disaster recovery testing as well as the methods used in performing risk analysis and business impact analysis;

  • Informs and directs IT areas on Client approved recovery practices;

  • Recommends BCP strategies that will enable systems and applications to be recovered within the defined recovery objectives;

  • Coordinates recovery exercises including regularly scheduled application / business continuity testing;

  • Motivated, enthusiastic, conscientious self-starter who has passion for BCP and enjoys a challenge;

  • Coordinates resources to facilitate testing exercises;

  • Documents test results identifying exposures and suggested strategies to correct exposures;

  • Works with business users to identify recovery objectives.

Preferred Qualifications :

Preferred Knowledge/Skills:

Experience providing guidance on the basis of the Emergency Response, Crisis Management, Disaster Recovery and Business Resumption planning efforts, including but not limited to:

  • Identifying business processes, types of risks and threats which can disrupt normal business operations;

  • Assessing impact of the risks;

  • Prioritization of business processes based on potential impact to the enterprise;

  • Creation, testing and maintenance of business continuity plans.

  • Conducting a company-wide BIA, or process validation;

  • Developing annual plan-building and testing goals, objectives, and initiatives;

  • Developing and implementing a framework to guide in building and testing plans;

  • Identifying recovery requirements and priorities;

  • Providing strategic guidance in the development of individual plans and procedures as requested;

  • Facilitating and observing tests on a sample basis and reporting on the adequacy of the testing procedures and on the appropriateness of the conclusions;

  • Monitoring, tracking and reporting on the status of the business continuity readiness;

  • Gap analysis of critical applications, critical business processes and critical shared dependencies;

  • Monitoring the proper coordination of the plans under the Business Continuity Program;

  • Maintaining a centralized inventory and control of plans to facilitate working plan relationships.
