JOB DESCRIPTION:

Governance

Drives governance for Legal risk identification and oversight of governance forums managing the risk and operations of the Legal department. Particular areas of focus include: preparing materials and talking points for Board and Management committees; assessing and looking for improvement opportunities in the various governance forums across Legal to manage risk and operations; assessing and enhancing materials for escalating Legal risks; providing support for quarterly business reviews and other executive briefings as well as providing support in managing agendas and materials for senior leadership routines within Legal

Responsibilities:

Preparation of the quarterly GC memo delivered to the Board giving a high level thematic discussion of Legal Risks, together with talking points.

Preparation of monthly talking points for Management Risk Committee.

Compilation of the Legal Matters Roundtable reporting and identifying opportunities for improvement.

Preparation of briefings for GC on miscellaneous topics for external and internal events.

Assessing all governance forums across Legal for efficiency and identifying opportunities for simplification.

Setting and managing agendas for senior leadership routines.

Generally providing executive business support including governance and management routines, communications, reporting, ad-hoc analysis, and presentations.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 5-7 Years of professional/demonstrated work experience within financial services industry preferably in COO function and/or governance, risk management

  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written), with experience interacting with senior executives

  • Ability to create presentations and communicate a cohesive story to senior leaders in a clear, concise, and meaningful way; strong meeting facilitation and presentation skills

  • Ability to constructively challenge quality of information and escalate/debate risks and issues

  • Ability to work independently, manage time and multiple priorities effectively

  • Demonstrate intellectual curiosity, constantly seeks to learn and advance his/her knowledge, and be able to communicate effectively in a matrix organization

  • Excellent business partnering skills with ability to influence

  • Highly organized, ability to simultaneously prioritize and handle high volume of tasks and time-sensitive issues, with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail

  • Strong PowerPoint skills

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Prior experiences in leading governance related work across the enterprise

  • Knowledge and experience within a COO/governance function

  • Knowledge of and experience with enterprise policies, programs, procedures, and systems

  • Legal background desirable
