Description

Quilt is an early stage startup tasked with addressing one of the largest problems facing America today: the perfect storm of people living longer AND saving less. As an independent subsidiary of a Fortune 100 company, Quilt has the resources to make a real difference and the agility to succeed where traditional, old school financial services companies have failed in the past.

We are looking for an experienced Chief Engineer to recruit and mentor a world-class engineering team, architect the underlying tech platform, and contribute to Quilt’s overall success as a member of the exec team.

Currently in the product development stage, the Quilt team plans to launch its first financial product in mid 2019.

You’ll get to…

  • Build and mentor a talented engineering team across various disciplines

  • Lead the architecture, implementation, and management of a cutting-edge web and mobile experience

  • Be a key contributor to the executive team

  • Collaborate with key internal stakeholders (Haven Life and MassMutual) and external partners

  • Embody the Quilt brand and values in everything you do

In the past you have…

  • Been part of (or reported directly to) an executive team

  • Recruited, managed, and mentored great engineers

  • Worked in a startup or agile development environment

  • Experience with JavaScript, related frameworks (i.e. Node), relational and NoSQL databases, distributed cloud-based systems, and performance optimization

  • Several years as a lead developer

  • Many years of experience in web/mobile systems design/architecture and/or platform/framework development

It’d be nice if you also have…

  • Managed different personality types

  • Familiarity with financial services/insurance, and necessary security standards

  • A healthy obsession with organization and details

  • A simple and conversational way of explaining things

  • Experience managing multiple stakeholders

  • BA/BS/MS in computer science or related subject area

You want to work at a company who values…

  • Having a sense of humor

  • Talking through complex issues while respecting viewpoints of others

  • Working with data and letting the analytics be your guide

  • Collaborative project and product development

  • Thinking about what we are building and not just how it will be delivered

  • Keeping it simple

  • Being proactive

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to embody our brand and values as you help develop a team of bright engineers and work to solve the retirement and longevity issues facing America.

We pay competitive base salaries and provide significant team performance bonuses. Our salary structure is commensurate with experience. In addition, you will be eligible to participate in our comprehensive benefits program, including medical insurance, 401(K) with match, and a pension offered through our corporate parent, MassMutual.
