Validity Chief Technology Officer in Boston, Massachusetts

About the Role

Validity’s Chief Technology Officer will oversee all aspects of Technology leadership including R&D and innovation, software engineering, governance, and enterprise IT. The person in this position will understand the business aspects of technology as well as the competitive landscape and understand how to leverage market-driven technical innovation to increase shareholder value. They will create and manage business-aligned technology roadmaps to support Validity’s growth in the data quality and email deliverability segments of the MarTech industry. Leveraging close relationships with other members of Validity’s Executive Leadership Team, the person in this position will oversee the teams responsible for delivering value-add solutions, eliminate roadblocks, support a sales-first culture, and create value through thought leadership, effective cost management, and tech-enabled process improvements. This role is based in our Boston global headquarters and reports directly to our Chief Operating Officer.

Position Responsibilities and Duties

  • Quickly learn our product platforms, and their respective market differentiators and gain an understanding of where our shareholder value lies. Drive continuous innovation which maximizes and increases value.

  • Apply a deep understanding of the business of technology to the distinct personas we serve today and in the future to contribute to the building of an enduring global brand.

  • Lead and manage the internal team of approximately 80 Engineering, Technology, Privacy, Security, and Compliance professionals. Continue to evolve the team commensurate with strategy, resource needs, business growth, and performance. Additionally, be equipped with the experience to scale various technical functions, with both on- and off-shore resources.

  • Foster a positive culture in which the team is engaged and challenged by what they do and who they work with and have the necessary resources to be successful in their roles.

  • Partner with ecosystem partners and resources to collaborate, share and leverage technology and resource needs where appropriate.

  • Maintain accountability for developing and managing all financial budgets and plans associated with information technology, software, systems, data, and the resources needed to manage, support, and evolve these.

  • Own and manage technology vendor relationships to manage risk and to ensure positive financial outcomes for Validity.

  • Remain current on laws, regulations, business trends, and economic trends that impact the business and take appropriate action.

    Required Experience, Skills, and Education

  • Minimum 15 years or more experience in all aspects of technology, software, IT systems, infrastructure, and data analytics; ten years' leadership experience at the Director level or higher.

  • Strategic thinking and strong business acumen are essential in this role. Must be well-versed in current technology trends and familiar with a variety of business concepts to arrive at solutions, and support planning and decision making.

  • Superior leadership skills – including self-awareness, influencing, effective and impactful communication, and change management

  • Demonstrated success integrating and/or delivering differentiated products and solutions in B2B space.

  • Strong, demonstrable experience with contract and vendor negotiations and management including managed services.

  • Working knowledge of the evolving industry and competitive news and trends as well as broader technology, systems, software, and data capabilities and solutions.

  • Demonstrated experience in attracting, hiring, enabling, and developing stellar talent.

  • Deep technical background with previous hands-on experience in software engineering within a high-performing technology organization.

    Preferred Experience, Skills, and Education

  • Bachelor’s degree, Master’s preferred in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration or related field, or equivalent work experience.

  • Experience working or partnering with Email Service Providers (ESPs) or Customer Data Platforms (CDPs) is highly desired.

  • Experience in high M&A environments is highly preferred.
