Federal Reserve Bank Data Engineer in Boston, Massachusetts
Job Summary: Creating data repository schema for databases and data warehouses (i.e., specifying the overall database/data warehouse field and data structure based on functional and technical requirements). Developing logical and physical data models. Developing strategies for data acquisition, archive recovery, and database implementation. Managing data migrations/conversions and troubleshooting data processing issues. Provide data analytics in supporting of reporting needs.
Principal Accountabilities: · Understands key business drivers and can translate into data requirements to provide insight and solutions · Works with stakeholders - both business and IT partners - to develop and analyze business intelligence needs · Designs and develops reports, dashboards, and other data visualization solutions to meet business needs · Analyzes program needs and translates them into data warehousing and data mart requirements · Integrates data from one or more source systems into data repositories that are optimized for reporting and analytics · Constructs, implements and operational data stores, data lakes, and data marts · Recognizes and resolves conflicts between data models, ensuring consistency and compliance with enterprise standards · Translates business requirements and problems into conceptual, logical, and physical data models · Monitors data transmissions, provides production support 24 hrs x 7 days a week · Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge: Progressive knowledge pertaining to concepts and principles in functional area. General knowledge of department/business lines, Reserve Banks, and / or System operations, policies, procedures and technologies. Communications: Strong attention to detail, oral and written communications skills tailored for the intended audience.
Analytics: Strong analytical, problem solving, and data management & analysis skills
Decision Making: Works independently on cross-functional team under direction with infrequent checks; follows established methods and clear-cut policy. Makes decisions when general instructions or established methods indicate action to be taken.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems , or other related field or equivalent work experience
Typically requires 5 years data engineering, data science, analysis, or software engineering experience, including knowledge of Big Data ecosystem
Experience with data visualization tools (PowerBI, Tableau)
Experience with Cloudera, Hadoop is a plus
