Iron Mountain Director, Client Delivery PMO in Boston, Massachusetts

Job Title: Director, Client Delivery Project Management Office (PMO)

Description : The Director of the Client Delivery PMO reports to the VP of Global Solutions and is responsible for managing the Iron Mountain project team responsible for client solution delivery including, scope and task management, internal and client team alignment, project communication, timeline, resource and budget management , and risk mitigation. The individual in this role will build and grow the PMO team as well as contribute to project management activities on strategic customer engagements. A history leading successful complex enterprise level solution client engagements is required. This leader must be able to work independently and make daily decisions, including but not limited to, managing areas to achieve financial objectives, communicating with clients to ensure accurate expectations on large and complex opportunities, building a high-quality team with the right mix of skills and roles to optimize the business. This individual must have experience building and managing successful teams supporting large scale projects.


  • Help design and build a next generation Client Delivery PMO Team for complex opportunities

  • Lead and manage teams of project management professionals responsible for:

  • Creation of the project plan, timelines and GANTT charts.

  • Creation of the kanban cards for daily management of tasks.

  • Organizing, attending & chairing the daily meetings to assign work items

  • Ensuring that the work items completed during the sprint days are updated by close of day.

  • Management of new work item ticket creation throughout the project and allocation of resources against.

  • Monitor the staff utilisation throughout the project and alert any issues against budget

  • Create and manage risk registers, decision logs, project status reports and comprehensive implementation plans.

  • Reporting to the client and the client principal of the status of the projects through reports and dashboards.

  • Responsible for project governance such as reporting, risk mitigation, risk escalation, financial and status meetings, and steering committee meetings.

  • Define project schedules, allocate resources and monitor progress.

  • Managing multi million dollar project engagements

  • Meet or exceed customer expectations by ensuring team members accurately scope, assess, and deliver solutions that address the client's business requirements within the "Scope of Work" agreed to by the company and the customer

  • Responsible for coordinating, resource planning, tracking and communication around multiple internal product delivery and services team

  • Ensure client expectations are managed such that client satisfaction is achieved

  • Ensuring that labor and expense billing as entered in the accounting systems meet the requirement of client contracts and ensure invoices are reviewed by project managers for accuracy

  • Partner collaboratively with Sales and Pre-Sales Management, actively participating in the sales account planning and pipeline management planning activities to ensure team is prepared to handle forecasted opportunities

  • Ensure all staff adhere to the Time and Expense Policy. Ensure each team member responsible for time approval reviews each entry for accuracy, then approves in a timely fashion

  • Ensure all staff adhere to company policies of Code of Conduct/Ethics, Security, and any required training

  • Develop and mentor staff by guiding their learning in conjunction with the strategy and direction of the company's Product and Services businesses

  • Ensure that customer expectations are aligned with scoped deliverables prior to the initiation of all engagements

  • Ensure the growth and development of the PMO team, set the expectations and culture of the team

  • Develop and execute team process, coverage and engagement strategy

  • Develop and support Team GAOs and team members personal and professional growth

  • Technical Training for the team and individual team members

  • Product Training for the team and individual team members

  • Industry, Market and Competitive Education for the team

  • Pipeline Review and sales strategy development with team members

  • Team alignment, relationship development, education and communication with Services Partners

  • Team Communications

  • Aid in the design of the next generation client delivery PMO team organization

  • Identify critical areas for training and development

  • Create/Harden team role definition, responsibilities and rules of engagement model

  • Mange team comp plans goals and objectives

  • Collaborate and align on global standards for Client Delivery PM process and tools

  • Be the main point of coordination, collaboration and alignment with global leadership teams

Preferred experience:

10+ Years of experience within primary skills defined below

Primary Skills:

  • Experience leading and managing PMO teams in a technology focused organization

  • Bachelor's Degree or global equivalent in Computer Science or business related field. Master's degree or global equivalent in a related field a plus

  • Must be educated in Information Technology with a minimum of 10 years experience at an IT Professional Services organization preferred

  • Prior employee management and project/program management experience

  • Strong business knowledge is required to properly communicate with team members and customers on behalf of the company

  • Must demonstrate the ability to apply sound judgment to any situation and negotiate the best outcome for all involved parties

  • Must be able to mentor and manage individuals in a positive and constructive manner, contributing to their overall development as an employee

  • Has an understanding of the complexity of software implementations as a result of previous personal experience and apply past experience to assist current team in achieving their objectives

  • Significant experience managing multiple concurrent IT projects, including budgets over $1+M. .

  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills; able to inspire and influence teams and senior execs alike.

  • Familiarity with user-centred requirements engineering, acceptance criteria and testing charters.

  • Expertise in creating detailed project plans and owning the successful delivery of project plans end to end

  • Experience in Agile delivery, ideally for multiple teams, internal and external.

  • Ability to constantly multi-task, and prioritise own and others work according to a changing business environment

  • Ability to work in short sprint cycles and continuously drive the team to deliver each iteration against their goals

  • Strong stakeholder communications, reporting weekly and daily to senior management

  • Working knowledge and experience with both agile and waterfall methodologies

Secondary Skills:

  • Ability to team effectively at all levels of Iron Mountain and customer personnel (to include C-level) on a wide range of topics and issues

  • Enterprise Software including ERP, CRM, Document/Content management, Information Governance and BI

  • Enterprise data management techniques and applications

  • Cloud smarket and use cases – Amazon, Microsoft Azure, Google (GCP)

  • Working knowledge of jira, service now, github

  • Excellent written, oral and presentation skills.

  • Strong interpersonal, planning, and analytical skills.

  • Self-motivated and a strong drive to seek information and support in succeeding.

  • Ability to influence and negotiate.

  • Ability to make decisions and think in broad terms, considering the impact to the entire company.
