Thermo Fisher Scientific Director Digital Yield Solutions in Boston, Massachusetts
This exciting role will be an influential part of the team that develops and delivers premier Yield Learning and Physical Failure Analysis (PFA) and Electrical Failure Analysis (EFA) solutions to leading semiconductor companies. The Director Digital Yield Solutions will be responsible for driving the Strategic Customer technical strategy within the Semiconductor Business Unit of the Materials and Structural Analysis Division of Thermo Fisher Scientific. In partnership with our product marketing, internal sales development and applications engineering teams you will work with the customer’s senior technical and strategic leadership to jointly develop strategies that help customers accelerate and achieve their yield FA and business outcomes. This will include developing technology strategies and roadmaps that align with customers business needs across a broad range of technical domains with concentration in Digital solutions across all markets.
The right candidate will have a consistent track record of leading and driving multiple sophisticated customer engagements and possess excellent interpersonal skills and efficiency with senior level customers.
This role will be responsible for all strategic and tactical activities that define and lead the application software landscape tying together the various instruments needed for automated workflows. It is aimed at strengthening and growing Thermo Fisher Scientific MSD presence on the market globally by successfully using the current software offerings while acting as a driver for next generation solutions and architectures.
Cross-functional partnership will include product marketing, business development, sales, R&D new product development, and applications development. Your efforts will lead to an increase in Semiconductor solutions revenue and increase our customer satisfaction and collaborations that accelerate our customer’s development and innovation.
What you will do:
Establish Thermo Fisher as Digital Science leader in our market space
Establish Voice of Customer forums and drive VOC into BU and product development plans
Drive cross BU and cross divisional alignment and strategy execution
Assess opportunities for BU in Digital Science field
AI and Machine learning capabilities to enhance and automate SDB and TEM Systems
Big data analytics o Compelling data analyses o System connectivity o Data Flows and o Improvement capabilities, services and revenue streams
Conduct competitive analysis
Develop Vision and Win strategy
Engage technically with strategic accounts to align digital roadmaps, resolve gaps and develop gap closure plans
Lead technical engagements and coordinate joint development programs with key customers
Based on technical strategy, facilitate/guide priorities of technical (and technical-like) resources, with Product Line Directors and the Semiconductor BU GM.
In collaboration with Semiconductor leadership team and commercial organization, develop technical account plans for evaluation and present information that will facilitate effective and timely decision-making through written and verbal communication materials that summarize findings with recommendations.
At any point in time, be driving ground-breaking (for the customer) N+1 and N+2 technology projects aligned with customer’s business strategy.
Build mechanisms for sharing findings across other strategic accounts.
How you will get here:
BA/BS, MS or PhD in Science or Engineering
MBA or related advanced degree desired but not required
10+ years of experience in Semiconductor capital equipment applications, marketing, or general management with responsibility of leading a P&L
Typically requires 7-10 years experience in marketing, product management or applications management in a relevant environment and
Preferably as a customer of SEM and TEM equipment in the semiconductor market
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Specialized knowledge in: physical failure analysis, semiconductor processing for sophisticated technology in logic and memory, focused ion beam milling, Scanning Electron Microscopes (SEM), Transmission Electron Microscopes (TEM), wafer inspection and/or metrology desired
Knowledge of Agile software development processes and successful track record in efficient requirements management
Knowledge of software license models and their commercial implications
Demonstrated experience in developing business cases, establishing new business models and successfully executing sophisticated projects
Excellent communication ability and influencing skills including the ability to communicate sophisticated concepts to a variety of audiences is critical to the success in this position
The successful candidate has a strong drive for results and an ability to work within a diverse, cross-functional and multi-cultural team across multiple sites
Keen interpersonal and customer relationship skills
Proven success working in a global, matrixed-environment with ability to influence without direct authority
Strong discernment and a proven ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with key business partners and customers
Travel up to 25% within the US and abroad. Any candidate should be able to travel internationally with ease.
