Amec Foster Wheeler Director Floating Offshore Wind in Boston, Massachusetts

Wood is currently recruiting for a passionate Director Floating Offshore Wind to support our drive to lead Energy Transition projects. The Director Floating Offshore Wind will have a focus on consulting and EPCm (engineering, procurement, construction management) services program for large scale offshore wind projects; working with external partners, internal account managers and Wood’s teams in Projects and Operations. For the right candidate, this role can be seated out of any US city, where Wood has a local office.

This is a highly visible, exciting role, where you will have overall responsibility for leading Wood’s floating offshore wind strategy and program delivery in the Americas. The ideal candidate will have offshore experience and be driven to lead and deliver major projects in the Renewables sector. A highly motivated individual with technical experience and strong business acumen, who is interested in making a mark in a growing international organization, will thrive in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

The Director Floating Offshore Wind will be responsible for the development and execution of business strategy and the delivery of Floating Offshore Wind projects. Responsibilities include:

  • Works closely with leadership to develop and implement strategy for growth and penetration of the floating offshore wind market and opportunistic business opportunities in fixed offshore wind.

  • Identifies opportunities for future work and supports the development of Business Winning Strategies.

  • Builds lasting and mutually beneficial relationships with technology innovators, developers, operators and business associations for the long-term financial benefit of Wood.

  • Develops and provides direction and leadership for a core Floating Wind development team with inclusivity of wider business streams and business units across Wood.

  • Evaluates and builds Wood capabilities in support of the US offshore wind market.

  • Leads or oversees project development and delivery and takes responsibility for the schedule, resources, cost and profit and monitors these to deliver a positive outcome for both the client and leadership. Ensures conditions of contracts and sub-contracts are met

  • Creates a credible and professional image to internal and external customers and other stakeholders. Uses their knowledge and expertise to identify the difference between customer wants and their true needs

Experience in offshore wind developments in the USA or abroad with a broader background in offshore project developments is essential for the role.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant Engineering or Project Management Discipline required

  • Minimum of 10 years experience in technical or project management of offshore Oil & Gas projects

  • Minimum of 3 years experience supporting Renewables projects; previous experience in a key role on an offshore wind development (engineering, project management or construction) highly preferred

  • Must have Commercial exposure with previous roles, combined with the ability to link commercial awareness to contractual judgement and decision making

  • Proven track record delivering large, complex, multidisciplinary projects and execution of works in an offshore environment

  • Strong knowledge of industry standards, offshore regulations, health & safety, and environmental legislation associated with offshore construction projects

  • Demonstrated success in long term planning horizon and scheduling for all contracting activities relating to project delivery

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; with the ability to engage and relate to others (internal and external stakeholders) at all levels

  • Highly skilled in chairing meetings, discussing alternative points of view, and resolving conflicts and building consensus in decision making

  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills, with ability to build collaboration and influence stakeholders

  • Ability to adapt quickly to a rapidly changing in working environment and demonstrate a positive attitude to change

  • Must be a US citizen, or authorized to work lawfully in the US, without sponsorship from Wood
