The Global Data Management & Trusted Insights team has an enterprise-wide charter to lead data management for the company at large. This team focuses on data management activities related to Salesforce Digital Transformation, Data Management Maturity, Customer Trust, Proactive Compliance, Data Handling, and Data Governance. The team’s mission is to enable the right data at the right time and with the right controls through best in class Data Management while also ensuring data is high quality, discoverable, and accessible.

The Director of Global Metadata and Data Quality will support the definition and adoption of an enterprise-wide metadata management and data quality strategies, overall maturity, aligned metadata management and data quality capabilities, tooling, and technology (in partnership with the technology team).


This leader will be responsible for driving both metadata management and data quality for the company through the delivery of best practices while demonstrating and delivering business value in a fast-paced, volatile, and complex ecosystem.

  • Execute a federated metadata and data quality strategy across a broad group of stakeholders

  • Work closely with data stewards to understand, adopt, and extract value from enterprise metadata management and data quality solutions and standards

  • Support continuous improvement by assessing current state and determining/executing on recommendations towards company and industry best practices

  • Serve as the product leader for metadata management and data quality capabilities, including data cataloging, data lineage, and data quality monitoring

  • Support data stewards in developing and executing data issue remediation plans to remediate identified data quality issues

  • Articulate and demonstrate value of metadata management and data quality across business, technology, compliance stakeholders

  • Measure adherence and compliance of all enterprise data policies, standards, and guidelines

  • Ensure robust data asset management is established and maintained in a dynamic and easy to consume manner

  • Foster productive partnerships with various technology, legal, security, and analytics/data management teams across Salesforce

  • Other responsibilities, as required


  • Strong metadata management and/or data quality background that includes driving strategy, architecture, governance, tooling, and enablement

  • Effectively drive consensus across organizations and clearly articulate metadata and data quality strategy, vision, and business value

  • Excellent business and technical communication skills at all levels of the organization

  • Commitment to continuous improvement, success at leading by influence, and excellent at building business cases for investments to improve data management

  • Ability to be agile, proactive, and comfortable in ambiguous environments

  • Effectively motivate people, instill accountability and demonstrate the value of data across a wide range of individuals (engineers, data scientists, analysis, service owners, executives, customers, auditors, etc.)

  • Familiarity with Data Management Maturity Models such as DCAM, Gartner IT, etc.

  • Salesforce products knowledge a plus

  • A proven leader with a successful track record of leading teams across geographies and time zones

Skills & Qualifications A related technical degree required.

  • 8-10 years of demonstrated ability in data management, data strategy, metadata management, data quality, data governance, and analytics

  • Experience working in complex and large data environments

  • Experience with data cataloging technologies, concepts and products such as Alation, Collibra, Informatica Axon/EDC and data quality products such as Attacama, Informatica IDQ, etc.

  • Experience leading teams through data management initiatives, including scoping, metadata capture, data quality business rule definition, data quality monitoring, and data quality issue remediation

  • Experience leading teams in a decentralized and matrixed environment, team builder who develops team, staffing strategy, and hiring plan consistent with the needs of the organization

  • Interpersonal, written and verbal skills with ability to educate, inform, influence, and achieve understanding and consensus on metadata and data quality needs across different functions, levels and customers

  • Extensive experience in leading complex projects with a team-focused approach, organize and handle deadlines, and demonstrated passion for working with data

  • Knowledge of data governance practices, business and technology issues related to management of enterprise information assets
