About the team:
The Reporting and Analytics team in Legal Strategic Services (LSS) provides advanced analytics, strategic reporting, and predictive modeling, to help our stakeholders continuously improve their legal related processes and results. We apply leading edge analytic platforms and modeling techniques, integrating both traditional and unstructured data from multiple litigation, billing, and claims systems, to provide our business partners with insights on key legal metrics and trends
About this role:
The Director I, Data Strategy will own the vision, roadmap, team oversight and implementation of the data strategy for Corporate Legal Analytics. In this role you will manage a small team of 2-3 analysts who will focus on everything from what data is being used, where it’s coming from, how it’s being used, to delivery and execution of improvements. This is a brand new team, and you’ll get to help shape who works on this team and how the team operates.
Owns and sets the strategic vision for the data strategy roadmap, which will be used to drive alignment among executives, business leaders, reporting & analytics, and IT teams.
Builds an effective team to deliver against the data strategy roadmap such as the implementation of standards for managing data, defining metrics that are impactful to the business, and developing data solutions for self-service consumption.
Provides coaching, mentoring, and honing performance to maximize the team’s impact.
Proactively identifies and manages the resolution of data quality issues.
Establishes and enforces data policies, standards, practices and processes.
Able to identify stakeholder and customer pain points and strategically address those concerns. Able to describe value and influence the prioritization of data solutions.
Deliver a portfolio of data solutions, including recommending and implementing new or enhanced data products to better meet stakeholder needs.
Partner with IT to scale and institutionalize data solutions.
Lead the team in effectively transferring knowledge via documentation & process management.
Directs research on emerging data and technology trends.
Strong written and oral communication skills required, including communication to senior business leaders.
Strong understanding of data management standards and coding languages.
BA/BS, or relevant work experience, in Computer Science or related field, plus 5 years relevant experience. MBA or advanced degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, or other quantitative discipline strongly preferred.
Has a working understanding of complex multi-tier, multi-platform systems, and applies principles of metadata, lineage, business definitions, compliance and data security to project work.
