Job Description Summary:
At Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, we have an exciting opportunity for an energetic, passionate, and accomplished technologist to lead our Solutions Architecture discipline. As a Director of Solutions Architecture you will report to VP of Enterprise Technology and lead a team of talented solutions architects to develop solution designs based on sound architectural principles. You will work closely with product owners, product managers, enterprise architects, security and technical delivery teams to create and manage solutions architecture to advance strategic initiatives.
Research, evaluate, and prototype new methodologies, technologies, and products, and will propose and follow through with improvements in processes and tools
Manage and lead direct and matrixed team of solution architects to develop and deliver solution architectures
Work with product owners/managers to understand the business strategy and vision to create innovative solutions architecture to solve the business problems
Review technical designs, and provide guidance to software engineers on technical and architectural design decision
Work with software engineers and other architects to define and refine the application structure to align with the business, development, deployment, and maintenance needs
Develop and manage roadmaps for technology and applications in alignment with Enterprise Architecture strategies
Lead rapid prototyping initiatives collaborating with product and business teams
Work with architects and engineers to develop proof of concepts/technology and development frameworks that can be leveraged by dev teams
Build teams and structure teams functions aligned to an agile model
Must have at least 5 years previous experience in managing technical/solution architecture teams and delivering complex IT Projects
Must have at least 10 years prior work experience as a Solution Architect in a complex environment
Broad technology experience including familiarity API, micro services, cloud data architecture, web & app development and event driven architectures
Familiarity with IAAS and capacity planning
Understanding of DevOps and CI/CD
Strong leadership skills and comfortable presenting complex ideas to small and large groups in a clear and concise way. Candidate should be confident in their ability to influence and develop relationships with key partners
Understand the Security requirements and standards and contemporary trends in Security risks as well as technologies
Healthcare payer background is a plus
BA/BS in Computer Science, Math, Physics, or other technical field
