JOB SUMMARY

DUTIES:

  • Accountable for the development and delivery of order services and integrations with central reservation systems and other internal and third-party fulfillment systems.

  • Follows and provides input to standard application development tools and processes to promote product quality for highly scalable transaction processing systems.

  • Leads the engineering effort for building the order services, integration, and other internal and third-party fulfillment integration systems for Marriott.

  • Implements and manages continuous improvement programs to improve quality and consistency.

  • The role is a self-starter role and is a subject matter expert in the order management services space.

  • The role partners very closely with the Digital products and Commerce products teams to lead the build of solutions and engineering for the related product services in an incremental way.

  • The role works in close collaboration with several teams, such as Commerce Business teams, Enterprise Architecture teams, Cloud Infra and Dev Ops teams, and the other Shared Platform and Enterprise Architecture teams.

  • Deliver commitments to discipline partners and collaborates with architects on major organizational initiatives across multiple channels & platform.

  • Function as the technical decision-maker and problem solver to deliver projects on time and on budget.

  • Work with direct reports to facilitate consistency of service delivery across client groups.

  • Facilitate compliance with the standard set of application development tools and processes that will drive consistency and predictability throughout the SDLC (System Development Life Cycle) for all client groups including:

  • SDLC standard tools and processes for both waterfall and agile development;

  • Estimating standard tools and processes, incorporating flexibility for small and large projects; and,

  • Deployment of standard tools and processes.

  • Monitor projects for adherence to defined application development processes.

  • Communicate to Application Development leaders, opportunities to create broader IT-related and corporate standards and policies where necessary.

  • Communicate important application development policy changes that affect service provider and/or Marriott operations.

  • Manages application development projects in partnership with IT teams, business partners, and providers.

  • Works with application development service providers and validates the service provider(s) performs the services agreed to by the master services agreement in a manner that is consistent with both the spirit and the letter of the agreement.

  • Supports the IT organization, provides input to IT’s business strategy and planning as needed, and support and follows defined IT Governance decision rights, standards, and practices.

  • Drives adoption of CMMi or similar metrics to demonstrate continuous improvement and alignment with the industry.

  • Demonstrates continuous improvement through metrics of quality consistency and client satisfaction.

  • Works with application development service providers, IT teams, and business partners to implement continuous improvement activities.

  • Responds to issues identified in project surveys or other feedback processes, to continually improve client satisfaction.

  • Other duties as assigned within the area of responsibility.

  • 7 years of technical experience in architecture development, integration of backend systems, and development using Java;

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related technical field followed by 7 years of application development leadership experience.

Prior experience must include:

  • 7 years of experience with Automation testing, Performance Engineering, CI/CD, Release Management processes, and Application Deployments;

  • 7 years of experience operating a production platform in support of P1/P2 outages, platform maintenance, and failover management;

  • 7 years of experience with one or more of the following: - microservices architecture frameworks (e.g.., Spring Frameworks), Service Mesh (e.g., Istio), Service discovery, rate limiting, and/or config management;

  • 5 years of experience with one or more of the following:- DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, logging, metrics, monitoring, tracing, LTM/GTM;

  • 5 years of experience working with one or moredatabase technologies: Couchbase, MongoDB / Amazon DocumentDB, PostgreSQL and/or Amazon Aurora;

  • 5 years of experience with one or more public cloud platforms and designing cloud-native solutions: AWS (Amazon Web Services), Azure, and/or GCP;

  • 5 years of experience in building Order management & fulfillment systems in one or more of the following platforms: Manhattan associates, IBM Sterling, Fluent Commerce, and/or custom homegrown Order platforms;

  • 3 years of experience in payment integrations with one or more of the following providers: Freedom Pay, CyberSource, PayPal, Apple Pay, and/or Google Pay; and,

  • Demonstrated knowledge* of:

  • Order management concepts such as Order capture, Order processing, Order splitting, Order hold, Order cancellations, Order repository, and Order Search;

  • Payment processing concepts such as Tokenization, Authorization, Settlement, Refunds, Voids, and Invoice reconciliation; and,

  • Integration approaches and architectures to enable Order, Commerce, and Payment Capabilities.

*Knowledge may be demonstrated through education, training, and/or experience.

California Applicants Only: The salary range for this position is $137,197.00 to $239,250.00 annually.

Colorado Applicants Only: The salary range for this position is $137,197.00 to $217,498.00 annually.

New York City & Westchester County, NY Applicants Only: The salary range for this position is $137,197.00 to $239,250.00 annually.

Washington Applicants Only: The salary range for this position is $137,197.00 to $239,250.00 annually. In addition to the annual salary, the position will be eligible to receive an annual bonus and restricted stock units/stock grants. Employees will accrue 0.04616 PTO balance for every hour worked and eligible to receive minimum of 7 holidays annually.
