What you'll do here:

The Director of the Salesforce Program will manage the Cengage enterprise Salesforce platform and help drive large scale/transformational IT programs to establish a foundation of integrated applications supporting applicable business functions across Cengage. As an experienced Salesforce leader, they will lead multiple enterprise-wide Salesforce solutions with considerable focus on configurable SaaS solution implementations and IT enterprise application development. This leader will demonstrate a balance of technical proficiency – including significant experience with business systems integration -- business solutioning skills and significant expertise with multiple Salesforce cloud platforms. Additionally, the Director will build and develop a strong team capable of delivering new business solutions and providing continuous support for delivered applications.

  • Develop understanding for enterprise’s overall strategy and the models for the underlying business units.

  • Rationalize Salesforce engineering team (structure, design, governance, operating model) to maximize value of Salesforce.com spend.

  • In collaboration with the Technology Solution Partners work with Business Leaders in all business units (especially new initiatives) to align with business objectives and plan delivery of priorities.

  • Collaborate with the Enterprise Architecture team ensure all Salesforce.com work supports both the individual business units and the enterprise as a whole.

  • Drive the Global Technology Team's Strategy and garner support at all levels of the organization and ensuring alignment.

  • Define effective program management processes, structure, roles, and responsibilities to successful execution and delivery of business objectives.

  • Manage engineering teams providing technology and methodology leadership ensuring the delivery of elegant and innovative IT solutions to high impact business opportunities.

  • Maintain high-level familiarity with other IT system/business application capabilities in order to make recommendations about potential upstream/downstream integration or functionality.

  • Build Support model and manage Enterprise Salesforce Team including combination of onshore, offshore, contract and full-time resources.

  • Ensure Compliance with Governance and Operating Models.

  • Establish program for attracting, developing and retaining a robust Salesforce delivery team.

  • Act as mentor to less experienced admins/developers.

  • Understand all aspects of Salesforce.com configuration and technical/functional capabilities, including changes and potential system implications.

  • Maintain Salesforce.com certifications to ensure understanding of the latest offerings.

  • Implement new products and packages within Salesforce and communicate updates throughout the company.

  • Perform Hands-on Configuration in alignment with enterprise strategy, change management and deployment processes as appropriate.

  • Provide regular status updates to management and project partners.

Skills you will need here:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and recent, relevant work experience

  • Strong business knowledge and familiarity with broad range of business processes

  • Excellent oral and written communication, training, presentation, and organizational skills

  • Excels in a fast-paced environment with the ability to prioritize and simultaneously work on multiple projects and priorities

  • Strong problem solving and analysis skills

  • Demonstrated mastery in all phases of Project Management plan-driven methodology, including: Scope Management, Schedule Management, Financial Management, Issue & Risk Management, Vendor, Contract, & Resources Management, and Execution Governance, Monitoring, and Control

  • Ability to work and deliver under tight time demands

  • Successful leadership of 5+ enterprise-level multi-functional Salesforce implementations with several years of technical implementation, day-to-day operations, and long-term maintenance of Salesforce

  • 5+ years of Salesforce.com, Agile SW and waterfall development experience

  • 5+ years of people management experience

  • 10+ years’ experience with leading projects of scale

  • 3+ years of experience in leading significant client engagements in industry leading professional services organization

  • Salesforce.com Administrator (ADM201) certification required plus one of Advanced Administrator, App Platform Builder or Developer preferred.

  • Experience with JIRA and Confluence a plus
