Serco Electrical Engineer IV in Boston, Massachusetts
Serco is seeking a Senior Navy Electrical Engineer to lead a team of Electrical Engineers in providing technical support for all aspects of requirements development, concept development, engineering, integration and test, and performance analysis in support of the PMS377 Landing Craft Planning Yard efforts in Boston.
Teleworking will be considered for the ideal candidate with a proven leadership and electrical engineering record.
Support to the Program includes:
Trains and mentors junior technical personnel and project managers within his/her organization in various technical activities related to system and technical product development for life cycle sustainment of LCAC, SSC and LCU 1700.
Supports the customer and fellow engineers in activities related to system and technical product development for life cycle sustainment of LCAC, SSC and LCU 1700.
During the fulfillment of ongoing job responsibilities, the Electrical Engineer will apply standard technical concepts, techniques, and procedures to provide assistance to higher-level engineers in the development of technical products directly associated with the Landing Craft Planning Yard efforts. Typically follows guidelines, documentation and provide deliverables that have been established by precedence. Additionally, will perform engineering work in analysis, design, development, evaluation, planning, testing and operation in support of system and technical product development and provides guidance to junior engineers.
Plans, designs, produces, and maintains moderately complex electric or electronic components, apparatus and/or circuitry for use in electronic devices. Determines conditions under which tests are to be conducted, conducts experimental tests and analyzes electronic equipment to establish production and operation controls. Will be responsible for providing technical support for all aspects of requirements development, concept development, engineering, integration and test, and performance analysis as tasked by the Lead Engineer in support of the PMS377 Landing Craft Planning Yard efforts in Boston.
Performs advanced engineering work in analysis, design, development, evaluation, planning, testing and operation in support of higher-level engineers in the development of system and technical products. Typically employs pre-established guidelines and instructions, and experience and judgment to plan and accomplish task objectives.
Duties include the collection of information and data, performance of various tests, and engineering computations, measurements and analyses.
Provides some technical guidance and oversight to entry-level technical staff and may act as a technical lead for limited aspects of a project.
Entrusted with independent interaction with customers and provides input to project managers on programmatic and technical deliverables under guidance of more senior technical personnel.
Provides input and support to intra-organizational proposal development efforts. May have some exposure to and provide some input to inter-organizational technical and business development activities.
Complies with applicable quality and security procedures in the performance of duties. Provides recommendations for improvements to existing quality systems and applicable company procedures and guidelines.
Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Education and Requiried Experience:
Bachelor’s degree plus 8 to 10 years of relevant work experience. Degree must be in engineering, computer science, mathematics or a related discipline. ( In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 8 years of applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted based on education, or highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology or labor market shortages as reflected by market survey data. )
Must be able to obtain and maintain and active Secret Security Clearance.
Proficiency in AutoCAD is required.
Knowledge of electrical engineering principles, methods, and techniques within a specific area of expertise is required.
Prior shipboard, craft, or boat experience is strongly desired.
Knowledge of ShipConstructor is highly desired.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Effective organization level communication, leadership, presentation and interpersonal skills is required.
Knowledge of relevant tools, equipment, hardware, and software.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite programs, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required.
