What is the primary need or problem you will be responsible for?
The Tanzu Developer Console team needs a technically oriented engineering manager to support and collaborate with the team's technical lead, and engineers, as well as designers and product management. Developer Console provides the platform for other products in the Tanzu portfolio to deliver developer experience outcomes connected to Tanzu Mission Control. The team collaborates closely with many teams inside Mission Control as well as with the Octant maintainers team within our own program. As more teams within Tanzu build plugins and leverage the core infrastructure, the Developer Console team is growing as well. You will collaborate closely with leadership to scale the Developer Console team while maintaining a sustainable engineering process.
What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?
Your highest priority, and at least 50% of your time, is taking care of your reports. This includes not only enabling them to do their day-to-day job well, but also enabling them to grow and become better engineers. You will also spend time contributing to conversations with leadership about the size and scope of your team. This will influence allocation conversations and could lead to hiring responsibilities for additional engineers in the program.
The rest of your time will focus on team processes and delivery prioritization. You will act as a point of contact in coordinating with stakeholders. You will collaborate closely with the team tech lead to shape the architecture and mitigate risks. You may contribute to hands on coding as needed.

Comfort with ambiguity: we work in an iterative and incremental way, balancing many different inputs and constantly making trade-offs.
Experience with Go or React.
Experience or familiarity with the Kubernetes API.
