The Enterprise Risk Oversight and Assurance Manager is responsible for theindependent Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Oversight function for Commercial Banking and its institutional broker/dealer business. Will be responsible for ensuring that the Business First Line of Defense function appropriately manages (e.g. identify, control, test, address) the operational, strategic and reputational risks relative to the Division/Unit’s business activities.Driving a culture of accountability, partnership, and a strong control environment within the respective Business Unit.This position requires strong communication and influencing skills to assist the Business Unit management and support/control functions to focus on a strong control environment with applicable policies, regulations, and guidance as well as establishing procedures to support the overall Enterprise Risk Oversight Program.

  • May be co-located as needed with the relevant business and must be actively engaged to support the business and provide credible oversight and challenge to ensure an independent Enterprise Risk Program is effective.

  • Will collaborate with the respective Oversight Heads to foster an open and honest risk management culture across the Business Division/Unit and ensure timely reporting and escalation of risk issues.

  • Collaborate across the ERM function to ensure the Business Division/Business Unit understands the holistic ERM Framework and the integration aspects that impact the business.

  • Working within the other appropriate areas of the Risk Division and CFG Management

  • Partners and collaborates for success with Business management, Risk Management, Legal and Compliance colleagues to ensure timely identification, mitigation, resolution and reporting/escalation of existing, emerging and upstream risks and issues.

  • Drives a culture of accountability, and works with Business Units to ensure a strong Enterprise Risk Culture and control environment exists. S

  • Serve as an independent advisor to the Business Unit colleagues and risk management; participates in Business management, risk and strategy meetings and provides risk advice.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years’ experience proven ability to lead and engage with Executive Management and regulators

  • Experience working in a large, complex financial service organization

  • Prior experience working with Risk, Audit, or Compliance agencies, including OCC, FDIC or FINRA.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, including the ability to work effectively with others at all levels across the organization and provide authoritative guidance to management and staff within the organization

  • Background would include experience working within a Commercial Banking organization and/or institutional broker/dealer with understanding of M&A and other investment banking activities, preferred.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, including the ability to work effectively with others at all levels across the organization and provide authoritative guidance to management and staff within the organization.

  • Strategic vision and organization/marketplace awareness.

  • Strong working knowledge of the risks associated with the Business Division/Unit product and service mix and a track record of partnering with business management to implement effective control and oversight programs.

  • Problem solving skills as well as flexibility and adaptability are of key importance.

  • Bachelor's Degree required
