Aqueduct Technologies is actively seeking a Head of Desktop Engineering for their customer, based in Boston, MA. The Head of Desktop Engineering will be responsible for the design, architecture and management and implementation of technologies that are leveraged within the End User Digital Workspace. This position will be responsible to enhance current capabilities and implement new technologies that supports a hybrid workforce in a secure and performing manner. This position will collaborate closely with other IT teams to ensure the end user environment is positioned to meet business requirements as well as work on technical roadmaps to ensure future requirements are met. This position will work holds responsibility around the implementation and management of collaboration platforms including but not limited to Chat, Video Conferencing and Enterprise File Sharing services.
The Head of Desktop engineering is responsible for automating end user life cycle, implanting automation around the onboarding, transfer and off boarding of users. This position will work closely with Cyber Security teams in management and implementation of Identity and Access Management technologies, including Single Sign On and Multi Factor platform. The head of desktop engineering is also responsible for the day-to-day management of the Mobile Device Management platform.
Develop, implement, and maintain company standards for desktop configurations, application delivery and desktop security.
Setting Roadmap and Executing on the deployment of new end user computing and mobile platforms
Evaluate, test and package software and applications for mass distribution.
Defining and driving the strategy and technical architecture for end user computing and its end-to-end design and deployment
Defining and executing standards, technologies, and the release planning and deployment of new end user computing services and technology projects for PC, mobile, and VDI platforms
Collaborate with business teams and vendors to ensure desktops continue to meet the needs of the business.
Identify gaps in current tooling/processes and provide recommendations to mitigate that risk
Requirement gathering from Business and IT stakeholders around end user needs
Assist with the tuning of Systems/Applications for optimal performance
Publish and Report on End User KPI (Uptime, Licenses, Performance Metrics)
Review current documentation, recommend potential areas of improvement specific to operational enhancements
Automate common operational tasks via PowerShell or equivalent technology
5+ Years leading technical innovation in the end user compute space
5+ Years working with VMWare Horizon of equivalent technology
5+ Years managing Mobile Device Management platform
5+ years securing desktop images
3+ years working with Multi Factor and Federated Authentication services
5+ years automation experience (PowerShell, Ansible)
5+ years working with Active Directory components, (Group Polices, DNS, ADFS, Certificate Management)
Extensive experience working with the Ivanti Unified Endpoint Management suite of tools (formerly LANDesk) or SCCM to build and maintain desktops
Working knowledge of Microsoft Exchange
Working experience with Desktop as a Service solutions
Supporting Docker containers within a Windows environment
Working experience with Jira or equivalent Agile tooling
