Chewy Head of Legal Operations in Boston, Massachusetts

Our Opportunity:

Chewy is looking for a Head of Legal Operations to lead the development of its inaugural Legal Operations function. This position is an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to join a rapidly growing, fast-paced, dynamic Legal Department. This position supports all aspects of developing and executing strategies to sustain and improve the operational effectiveness of the Legal Department and any related projects in support of Chewy’s growing business needs.\u0026amp;nbsp; This position will report to the General Counsel and will use their legal operations and technology skills to contribute to the success of Chewy’s Legal Department and business.\u0026amp;nbsp; \u0026amp;nbsp;

What you\u0026#39;ll do:

  • Conceptualize, develop and implement a multi-year Legal Ops strategy to support Legal Department efficiency and effectiveness; Monitor latest Legal Ops trends to continuously build a world class legal organization

  • Help develop the Legal Department’s mission, translate strategic plans into team goals and priorities, and develop and execute on the Department’s short and long-term operational goals

  • Oversee Legal Department technology strategy; responsible for the selection, implementation administration and support of all technology resources related to matter and document management, content \u0026amp;amp; knowledge management, litigation holds and eDiscovery, ethics \u0026amp;amp; compliance, ebilling management, contract management, IP management, business process enhancement, e-signature, e-notary, board of director portal/tools, subsidiary/legal entity management, business license management, and related legal operations systems

  • Develop and report on KPIs (e.g. spend analysis, efficiency initiatives); monitor progress to measure success against plan

  • Develop preferred counsel strategy and arrangements inclusive of pricing strategy and technology solutions; manage outside counsel usage and spend (e.g., manage against our billing policy, engagement letter)

  • Ensure effective departmental budget management, planning and tracking, expense analysis and forecasting

  • Manage all vendor relationships with legal service and technology solution providers

  • Act as a Legal Operations liaison for the entire Legal Department, assisting where needed and identifying opportunities for improvement and collaboration across the team

  • Develop and implement internal process guidelines, templates, and workflows

What you\u0026#39;ll need:

  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in business, technology, operations, finance, accounting (or related field)

  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive related experience; 5-10 years in legal operations; 5 or more years of people management experience

  • Demonstrated experience with strategic planning, systems implementation and management, data \u0026amp;amp; analytics and outside counsel management

  • Ability to analyze operational issues, diagnose problem areas and provide the leadership necessary to effectuate change

  • Demonstrated experience developing metrics, reporting, and managing data for legal teams

  • Strong understanding of a wide variety of legal technologies and software such as ebilling, document management and contract management systems

  • Strong organizational and project management skills; prove track record of applying methods for process improvement

  • Must be highly organized, forward thinking, attentive to detail, possess excellent communication skills (written and verbal), and the ability to maintain productive work relationships and work collaboratively

  • Must be able to work independently with general direction, and to manage up and across as needed to meet goals and deadlines in a very fast-paced environment

  • Position does not require travel if based in Florida; otherwise, some travel required
