Guidehouse Healthcare Consulting Group seeks an innovative Provider Strategy Expert that can take Physician integration and affiliation models/relationships to from a point of subsidy to impact. You will bring extensive healthcare industry experience and your proven track record of delivering innovative clinical and financial performance solutions that serve Physician Practices, Health Systems, Payers and most importantly the patient. This individual will lead the strategic design, development and realization of elevating physician value to the ecosystem. This person would use their deep knowledge in Strategy (financial and physician) and their understanding of health plan contracts and health systems operations to change physician impact within the care continuum. There efforts would work across the continuum to build the partnerships, governance and accountability that will have physicians working at the top of their license while working within the expectations of their partners to achieve financial and patient goals for all
They will strategically design, lead and/or have oversight of a portfolio of critical consulting engagements at Healthcare. The Executive will participate in and help direct nationwide business development and relationship management activities for Guidehouse Healthcare clients and prospects and provide leadership for structuring and integrating our current offerings to serve their needs. Finally, this individual will play a key role in helping guide the firm’s continued development of leading-edge consulting, in physician strategy.
This role will have responsibility for the following:
Client Relationship Leadership • Actively manage a portfolio of client engagements and consulting staff of the enterprise assuring all contractual targets and deliverables are met • Across active engagements, strategize with consultant teams on project approach, facilitating communications, and managing risk • Drive quality and standards of work product. Ensure superior engagement quality • Maintain strong relationships with C-level contacts at client healthcare organizations • Develop and instill best practices throughout the organization.
New Business Development • Serve as a thought leader in the public domain and assist in building the Navigant Healthcare brand • Leverage the firm’s existing healthcare industry relationships and develop new relationships to develop new clients and expand existing client relationships amongst physician groups. • Serve as the lead executive for new strategy and follow on business opportunities • Serve as content expert for physician strategy and related client strategic issues • Be personally engaged in growing the practice at a rate of $4 - $6m in annual new business for the firm • Serve on the firm’s panel of national spokespersons on matters relating to: strategic design, development and implementation of solutions to create high performing health care provider organizations including: Physician integration and affiliation models/relationships (from general to Advanced Medical Staff Development Planning, physician organization development, independent contractor to employed physician relationships, compensation relationships, professional services valuations and related practice acquisition, mergers and reorganization assistance.
Consulting Staff Leadership • Drive innovation to assist physician organization clients with strategic readiness for healthcare reform • Direct line management for consultants assigned to client engagements led by the Partner • Career development, advocacy for, recruitment of and retention of members of the Strategy consulting team • Contribute to the development of a positive and performance-oriented culture • Manage a profitable, value laden practice where consultants thrive and clients maximize care and financial results
Content Expertise • Ability to lead a comprehensive assessment of physician groups strategy and supporting operations; identifying opportunities for improvement and driving organizational change that will deliver client excellence in work product, market position and/or financial position. • Experience with innovative third party payor contracting arrangements, including clinical integration, full and partial risk capitation, bundled payments, shared savings arrangements and pay-for-performance; Ability to assess the payor environment and strategic plan for approaching payors to ensure value captured from plan design/contracts • Expertise in strategically aligning incentives for physicians performance and quality metrics including adherence to best practice clinical guidelines, cost effective medicine and other quality indicators for hospitals, health systems, independent and health system sponsored physician groups • Expert advisor on health physician care strategy, identifying gaps (staffing, alignment, culture, etc.) to migrate to an optimum care organization • Ability to review IT infrastructure and facilitate defining optimal IT strategy and necessary investments needed to set up the physician organization for future healthcare mandates. • Ability to relate effectively and with the highest degree of credibility to Physician Group/practices, C-suite health system executives in the context of business development, marketing and sales as well as service delivery. • The ability to assume complete ownership of key project tasks within larger engagements (including development and presentation of key Physician Strategy findings and recommendations; financial proforma development, compensation benchmarking, risk capitation, strategic environment assessments, physician and administrative analysis; primary and secondary research regarding related market trends and case studies affecting physician services strategies, operations and finance;), while at the same time being a part of and leading a close knit team, is essential.
Required • A minimum of 15+ years of increasing responsibility in healthcare industry and consulting combined with deep content expertise in physician organization structure and strategy and transformation of integrated delivery system performance (7+ Yrs.) • Demonstrated track record in business development, client management and measurable results for clients in health care services (prefer 3 + yrs selling services to health providers and systems 3+ million) • 5 +yrs in consulting or advisory service like business strongly preferred. • Bachelors degree from accredited university required- Masters degree in business, healthcare administration Preferred • Ability to travel routinely 9-12 nights per month
Desired Qualifications • Proven experience developing client relationships including current and prospective clients, ability to assess and define their needs, position relevant products and services to address their requirements and play a key role in securing new business for the firm • Demonstrated success in aligning physician behavior to impactful financial results. • Proven ability to develop senior-level relationships with large, highly recognized, independent physician practices, hospital physician groups and health systems. • A high level of intelligence, strategic, analytical and conceptual skills; and a practical approach to problem solving and business growth • Business development or consultative sales experience in a professional services environment • Outstanding written and oral communication skills including public speaking for large and small groups, the ability to leverage the written word in a clear, concise and compelling manner as a tool for communication and persuasion • Comfort with ambiguity, a strong sense of confidence without arrogance, creative but practical, flexible but with a strong results orientation, appreciation for the importance of details but with a higher calling to advance strategic imperatives • Strong conceptual, as well as quantitative and qualitative analytical skills. • Strong organizational skills, including ability to prioritize task s and delegate when appropriate • The highest levels of professional and personal integrity
