US Information Risk Management (IRM) partners with the Global IRM team, all Information Services teams, US Compliance, Legal, Operational Risk Management and Internal Audit to manage calculated risk according to Divisional tolerance levels.

US IRM is responsible for establishing a service oriented culture and organizational model that ensures information risk controls are thoughtfully and appropriately applied across the entire technical landscape. US IRM achieves its mandate through:

  • Managing divisional risk posture in line with business strategies and risk tolerances

  • Focusing on risk domains/disciplines

  • Prioritizing across the division, not independently

  • Forming Partnerships and applying a consultative approach

  • Efficient employment of human and financial capital

  • Increasing IRM efficiency and effectiveness through a holistic approach

Work as a part of US Information Risk Management to provide an Identity & Access Management (IAM) service to John Hancock, primarily using Sailpoint’s IdentityIQ product. The IAM service includes Identity & Access Governance as well as executing daily Access Control functions for John Hancock, with the purpose of ensuring that the right resources have the right access to critical John Hancock information and data. The team’s scope has increased over time from application access to access to other critical resources including network shares, sharepoint sites, servers, databases, network accounts and privileged accounts. As such, the team needs additional resources to expand the coverage of critical resources while enabling new features and automation capabilities in IdentityIQ.


  • Provide front-end support to the business to assist the IAM functions of IdentityIQ

  • Oversee and manage the team’s email inboxes and help educate the business

  • Develop documentation to enable the business to self-serve; e.g. post common Q&A on the team’s public sharepoint site

  • Act as a lead to design and manage information on the team’s sharepoint site

  • Collaborate with the team to share & manage work assignments, incl. short-term tasks & longer enhancements

  • Coordinate the annual deep-dive review for certain Sarbannes-Oxley systems; track & document responses

  • Design and assist in an owner-validation of non-person network accounts; track & document responses

  • Design and oversee execution of automated scripts to disable and delete unused network accounts

  • Assist the business to maintain configurations in IIQ when access security to a configured resources changes

  • Create an annual rotation of application configurations in IIQ to be reviewed & approved by the business

  • Assist with the oversight and management of accounts with privileged access


  • Bachelor’s degree with three years of professional experience in technology or information risk

  • Experience with Sailpoint IdentityIQ or an equivalent Access Governance/Access Management tool preferred but not required

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, esp. Excel to retriever/analyze/pivot data

  • Ability to rapidly learn new technologies and business functions

  • Excellent analytical, presentation, and communication (oral and written) skills to work with technical and non-technical audiences
