Autodesk Internal Communications Specialist, Platform Services and Emerging Technologies Group in Boston, Massachusetts

Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced internal communications professional to engage with and inspire our employees in the Platform Services and Emerging Technologies group. This person will help develop new and reimagine existing means of connecting employees and drive the Autodesk culture and values in our group, including crafting an array of communications and experiences that include messaging, employee events, presentations, and articles. These communications help invigorate our teams, clarify priorities, and project how our employees operate and collaborate toward a newly established charter.

The role will work within the executive communications team and partner closely with leaders across the PSET group, as well as leverage companywide relationships to ensure that our approach to internal communications is consistent, mission-driven, and uniquely Autodesk. The ideal candidate should possess a strategic and creative mindset, write well, be energetic and entrepreneurial and intellectually curious, and have experience working within technology groups or for a global technology company.


  • Develop and drive the internal communications strategy in collaboration with the group’s executive communications lead

  • Keep the organization informed, aligned, and inspired

  • Develop and drive proactive communications efforts, programming, and events around the group’s charter, major initiatives, and technologies

  • Drive proactive and reactive communications internally, including supporting all-hands meetings

  • Manage online and digital engagement with employees, including Slack channels and SharePoint sites

  • Work directly with the chief technology officer and chief of staff to develop employee events and messages

  • Build partnerships with key internal stakeholders to elevate collaboration across teams

  • Build partnerships with corporate communicators to develop internal strategies in advance of major company initiatives and announcements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Understanding of Autodesk’s business and industries; experience in enterprise software or working with engineering teams a plus

  • Excellent and confident writer, with the skills to distill complex content into clear, concise and engaging communications, and able to write with speed and accuracy

  • Strong storyteller with the ability to create compelling narratives in support of our group priorities

  • Experience developing and executing communications strategies, plans, programs and events

  • Blending traditional internal communications tactics with new media, including enterprise collaboration and social platforms

  • Translating internal news and information into accessible, engaging and simple language that resonates with employees

  • Ability to influence without authority, across functions, geographies and levels, and the ability to work with various departments and teams to drive alignment and collaboration

  • Ability to be highly collaborative, flexible, proactive, work under deadlines, and ensure quality and accuracy

  • Focused and performance-driven

  • Strong attention to detail and project management skills

  • Excellent PowerPoint and/or Keynote skills; knowledge of Photoshop, SharePoint and basic video editing a plus

  • 4+ years of experience in corporate employee communications or related field

  • Four-year college degree (BS or BA), preferably in English, communications or journalism; though technical degrees could be appropriate with excellent writing and communications skills

  • Occasional travel required
