The MENTOR Network IT Asset Manager in Boston, Massachusetts

The MENTOR Network is a mission-based organization dedicated to providing high quality services to those we serve. We are seeking an IT Asset Manager to join our IT Services & Support team! This role is open to a remote candidate.

Do you have experience in IT asset management and a desire to work for a company that positively impacts the well-being of others? As an IT Asset Manager, you will serve as the owner and subject matter expert responsible for the daily oversight and governance of The MENTOR Network’s IT Hardware and Software Asset Management and IT Configuration Management processes.This position requires a unique combination of ITIL process and asset management experience, specifically dealing with IT Infrastructure hardware and software components. Ideal candidates will have a background in purchasing IT hardware and software, managing software licenses and subscriptions, and maintaining Asset Management and Configuration Management databases. Candidates should have experience tracking IT assets for the purposes of inventory, financial management and asset lifecycle management.

  • Serve as the process owner and manager for assigned processes: Hardware and Software Asset/License Management, and Configuration Management

  • Ensure that assets under the control of the IT organization are identified and controlled

  • Account for, record, report, audit, and verify IT assets and configuration items

  • Assist in maintaining asset and configuration management systems

  • Participate in IT asset acquisition and supplier relationship management

  • Work with fixed assets team to ensure assets are appropriately tagged and tracked

  • Assess the current state of asset and configuration management, and drive process improvements and adoption of industry best practices

  • Work with asset deployment, infrastructure, delivery management, project management, and human resources teams to ensure that policies and procedures are being executed in a consistent and controlled manner

  • Facilitate regular operational process reviews and other working sessions with service providers and key stakeholders as required

  • Identify and lead the execution of process improvement initiatives in the Asset Management and Configuration Management space

  • Develop, review and update Policy, Process, and Procedure documents and ensure all updates are reviewed, approved, and deployed, to include requisite training of all impacted parties and stakeholders

  • Set the direction for ongoing maturation of ITSM tool and all asset and configuration management tools to ensure maximum effectiveness with respect to process execution and reporting capabilities


  • Bachelor’s degree in CS, CIS, CIT, or similar technical field, or 5 years of additional equivalent experience

  • 5 years relevant experience in an IT Service focused organization

  • 3 years relevant experience in IT asset management

  • 3 years of relevant hands-on experience working with infrastructure monitoring tools, CI data collection and reporting tools, and ITSM and discovery tools.

  • Experience participating in, managing, or leading the development and maturation of ITSM processes for Asset and Configuration Management

  • Advanced expertise with MS Excel and MS Access products.

  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and written) with technical staff as well as senior IT and business leaders

  • Experience working with teams of direct or indirect reports in a distributed IT environment
