Aqueduct Technologies Inc. IT Business Analyst in Boston, Massachusetts

Aqueduct Technologies is seeking an IT Business Analyst on a full-time bases for their premier customer based in Boston, MA on a remote basis. This hands-on business analyst (?BA?) will work as part of a newly formed IT compliance team that develops and maintains all systems for the organization?s needs. The purpose of these systems is to automate, monitor, and integrate compliance-created workflows and operations in legal, regulatory or trade compliance. The Business Analyst will work closely with our Finance partners to provide functional and technical support for all enhancements, upgrades, testing, and training while ensuring the resilient operation of the Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains (GP) application. The BA will have direct contact with colleagues across multiple business units at varying levels within the organization, in particular Regulatory Compliance, and play a key role in leading technology initiatives that impact a broad user group.

Key Responsibilities

  • Write and review compliance-related specifications for regulatory compliance reporting applications

  • Analyze business requirements, play a major role in project grooming, and suggest enhancements to the existing business logic in regulatory compliance reporting

  • Engage in enhancements to applications and reports or in migration of such to 3rd party tools by providing analyst and liaison role between business and development team while working closely as part of development team

  • Interact with various business teams in establishing automated workflows, monitoring investment guidelines, developing and testing compliance rules, and assisting business members in resolving issues related to client guidelines and/or regulatory restrictions imposed by US or foreign regulatory agencies

  • Investigate and evaluate sources of data that would be required and fit best for a given project

  • Test development work to meet business and functional requirements

  • Prepare UAT for user-facing applications and facilitate business users verifying the changes

  • Manage project requirements with an eye toward Test-Driven Development; design, create and review such tests

  • Investigate new technologies and software to make existing systems and processes more robust and meet new business requirements

  • Engage in a vendor selection type of projects when a 3rd party tool is needed

  • Provide ongoing production support for existing compliance operational processes

  • Serve as backup for development manager as needed


  • Bachelor?s degree in Finance, Economics, Law, Engineering, or related fields

  • 4+ years? proven experience as a business analyst for compliance, auditing, regulatory reporting and automation in Investment Management Services

  • Strong knowledge and experience with investment instruments and securities global regulations

  • Experience utilizing Microsoft Dynamics Great Plans (GP) application

  • Fluent in usage of SQL to write queries for data discovery or user inquiries

  • Experience validating data, data modeling and creating visualizations/dashboards and exercising the utmost discretion with highly sensitive and confidential information.

  • Hands-on experience creating, documenting, and managing functional and technical business requirements

  • Self-starter with ability to prioritize, manage and report project status without close supervision.

  • Familiarity with accounting principles, Finance business objectives & data/technology best practices.

  • Committed to the quality of their work product and managing multiple projects through completion.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to establish effective working relationships with team members and internal stakeholders is essential to be successful in this role.

  • Experience with any agile project management methodology is a plus

  • CFA not required but strongly preferred

  • Engagement in compliance projects using messaging or microservices technologies is a plus
