Meta Lead Counsel, Facebook Reality Labs in Boston, Massachusetts

Imagine a world where a lightweight, stylish pair of glasses could replace your need for a computer or smartphone. You’d have the ability to feel physically present with friends and family—no matter where in the world they happened to be—and contextually-aware AI to help you navigate the world around you, as well as rich 3D virtual information within arm’s reach. It may sound like science fiction, but it’s a future that Facebook is building inside our labs. Facebook Reality Labs legal team is looking for a talented transactional attorney to support our rapidly growing and evolving augmented/virtual reality (ARVR) hardware development team that delivers the Oculus Quest, Portal and other ARVR products and services. The attorney will work closely with the business development, product, and supply teams as counsel on strategic partnership deals for the custom silicon development team.

Required Skills:

  1. Lead the negotiation of complex commercial agreements for hardware development, procurement and strategic collaborations

  2. Influence and build relationships with clients and cross-functional peers across Facebook to drive strategies across multiple teams

  3. Collaborate with subject matter experts to analyze and communicate legal risks

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) and membership in at least one US state bar

  2. 5+ years of legal experience as an attorney, including at a law firm or in-house experience

  3. Experience, structuring, drafting, and negotiating technology licensing and other commercial agreements in support of product development

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Technical background (computer science, electrical engineering preferred), with strong knowledge of semiconductor design and experience manufacturing or ramping on technical issues

  2. In-house experience working for a technology company

  3. Proven organizational skills, experience managing multiple projects at once, follow through, and meet deadlines

  4. Proven communication skills, experience providing clear, concise and practical guidance

  5. Experience working independently and also collaborating well cross-functionally
