Thermo Fisher Scientific Lead Digital Solution Architect in Boston, Massachusetts

The Lead Digital Solution Architect is aligned to a business within the Pharma Services Group Client Experience and Integration team. The Architect is responsible for understanding the business overall goals, requirements and objectives, assisting in the prioritization of business technology projects for Client Services, ensuring that projects align with the technology that best provides maximum return on investment, and linking IT strategy in support of the overall business/service line strategy.
The Lead Digital Solution Architect serves as the chief strategic liaison between the business needs and technology design and strategy. The Lead Digital Solution Architect is a key technology role; they will ensure the integrity of the technology ecosystem. This role will responsible for building an architecture that enables integration and transparency across the landscape. This role works with their stakeholders at several organizational levels. The Lead Digital Solution Architect, works with business area leadership and governance teams to understand project requirements, shape project requests, and provide a high-level estimate of the project effort and costs in cost-benefit analysis. The Lead Digital Solution Architect works with global and local IT resources to identify solutions that match the business strategy with the technology strategy.
The Lead Digital Solution Architect is accountable for ensuring effective delivery and support of the overall technology solution for the Pharma Services Group Client. They are also accountable for creating strategy for end of life applications.
Responsibilities:
Define, articulate, review and approve engineering strategy and architecture decisions through the development, launch and scale of digital platforms
Assess and define technical requirements, constraints and systems architecture with clarity on feasibility, time, cost, and impact
Develop a foundational data architecture to support long term platform capabilities and data insights aspirations
Develop the roadmap for next generation analytics techniques on the data architecture to continually advance product development and solutions to meet business needs
Constantly evaluate technological advancements and innovative solutions to drive continuous product and platform improvements
Ensure consistent best practices, processes, and procedures for software development, quality assurance, and maintenance
Develop architectural patterns, company standards and standard procedures for digital platforms development
Very strong analytical and problem-solving skills - including requirements analysis and risk assessment
Effectively align resources to achieve key business priorities, including appropriate scope, and high quality / timely product releases
Ensure all processes, services, and software are compliant with security and privacy regulations as required including GXP, HIPAA, and GDPR
Co-ordinate multidisciplinary operations and engineering teams, both internally and with vendors, in an agile fast-paced environment to deliver reliable, high-performing solutions
Define and implement a consistent and repeatable process for making software decisions and achieving compliance
Provide expert technical guidance to all functional areas, including strategy, operations, sales and product
Ability to co-ordinate cross-functional IT, engineering, data and analytics talent both internally and with vendors
Mentor, motivate, and lead team members to support a vibrant and productive can-do culture
Gain and share insights with other leadership team members to continue improving the product and the business
Evangelize technical vision and strategy both internally and externally
Qualifications:
7+ years architecting and building digital products from pre-launch through maturity
Demonstrated technology and team leadership experience in key engineering positions
Experience building data-driven analytics platforms
An entrepreneurial spirit that is flexible, experimental, resourceful and persistent
Strong analytical skills with an emphasis on data-driven decision-making
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience with the following is a plus:
Tech stack that includes Node.js, React
AWS cloud infrastructure and deployment, serverless architecture
Master Data Management
AI/Machine Learning
Real-time and predictive analytics
Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment
Building strong relationships; excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills, including written, verbal and presentation skills
More than 5 years working in the Pharmaceuticals or Life Sciences industry (preferred)
Bachelor's Degree in the field of information technology, engineering, computer science and / or business administration (required)
Experience leading a matrix team of professionals and communicating with various levels of management is highly desired. Ability to work with all levels of the organization, both technical and non-technical.
Proven ability in a high growth business and developing teams to scale and deliver on commitments
Advanced degree in business or technology, such as an MBA (preferred).
