Job Description:
The Manager, Global Financial Initiatives and Integrity (GFII) is a critical position on the Corporate Controllership team and is responsible for supporting the Global Network and Merchant Services lines of business and the corresponding systems and platforms. The incumbent will be responsible for analysis of financial systems, defining business financial needs and developing user stories. The incumbent will also be responsible for providing consultation on finance initiatives including support on technology, end to end processes and other initiatives. This position requires strong relationship management and conflict resolution skills. The role will be responsible for collaboration with multiple partners including Finance Business units and technology partners.
Key Responsibilities include
Manage End to End (E2E) project lifecycle for Business and Finance projects
Drive engagement in business initiatives requiring technology development with financial, reporting, or accounting impacts
Ensure compliance with System Control & Reporting and all other relevant AXP and Finance Policies
Define end-to-end balancing and controls that meet the needs of AEMP16 (AMEX System Controls & Reporting Requirements Policy) and Financial Reporting
Create accounting requirements in consultation with Segment and Market Controllership
Design changes/updates to reporting in consultation with finance process owners
Conduct user acceptance testing of finance requirements in conjunction with relevant business teams
Ensure new finance process is operationalized and documented post implementation
Proactively identify project and operational risks and escalate to leadership and key project partners to remediate
Ensure Stakeholder Management and Communication is provided as appropriate
Deliver regular project status updates
Document outcomes of project and solicit feedback from customers, business partners, and other key project partners engaged in project life cycle
Provide consultation and advise to the business where GFII skills are needed
Provide support to new and existing finance requests for consultation
Engage other Finance groups as needed to provide E2E solution or response
Provide thought leadership and guidance to Project Analysts on the team as required
Partner across teams to deliver Automation, meet Operational Risk requirements and Data Governance objectives
Support Director on transformation and internal initiatives
Support Director in managing business partner relationships
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Three to five years’ experience with accounting, reporting processes or relevant business and technology experience
Typically holds a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Accounting, Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field or has equivalent work experience
Understanding of US GAAP requirements and financial control principles and practices
Three to five years’ experience in defining system development requirements across business and technologies
Three to five years’ experience in defining and validating system development and financial test cases
Strong knowledge of large-scale multi-feed ERP processes and systems is required
Demonstrated strategic thinking and results driven approach with an ability to convert strategic vision into clear project outcomes including skills to analyze highly complex processes, data volume and translate into tangible tasks or goals
High Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point, Visio) is a requirement to aid on written and visual communication as well as analytics
Leadership Skills
Demonstrate strong relationship management and conflict resolution skills. Exhibit a proven track record of collaboration and influence on internal and external partners including senior leaders
Recognizes the importance of teamwork to achieve objectives
Exhibit ability to excel in an environment of significant change
Proven ability to build strong and lasting relationships within team and across multiple organizations
