The MENTOR Network Manager, IT Business Analysis in Boston, Massachusetts

As the Manager, IT Business Analysis, you are responsible for establishing and maintaining standards for systems analysis, requirements gathering, and project artifact development and managing a team of business analysts assigned to projects across operations and functional groups. MENTOR system capabilities include human services and clinical service tracking solutions for operating groups and enterprise applications for human capital management (HCM); finance; revenue cycle; procurement; accounts payable and receivable (healthcare billing); governance, risk and controls; and contract lifecycle management.This position can be located anywhere in the US.

The Manager, IT Business Analysis is responsible for the following:

  • Establishing and maintaining approaches, methods, procedures, and standards for the analysis of the broad range of operational and enterprise applications. Demonstrating by example the benefits of new approaches and methods that shorten development life cycles, reduce rework, and improve the capability of purchased and developed solutions

  • Developing and coaching a team of business analyst professionals in requirements elicitation, analysis , and functional specification activities for complex projects or programs

  • Working closely with business leaders, team members and other stakeholders to actively support project activities

  • Advancing and broadening the business analysis competency, standards and processes to support the strategic and long term objectives for the organization

    Primary Responsibilities:

  • Plan, direct, and coordinate the business analysis of information technology projects, enhancements, and support activities

  • Manage, direct and coordinate the daily activities of the business analyst team

  • Support the initiation and planning of projects, including facilitating the definition of objectives, scope, and deliverables

  • Participate in iteration and work planning with project leadership to help staff deliver requirements

  • Staff projects considering staff strengths, stretch goals and project complexity

  • Interface, on a daily basis, with business leaders, individual contributors and a variety of IT personnel to ensure proper resource allocation and dependencies are being addressed

  • Review business analysis related documentation including: requirements, current and future state processes and workflows, report specifications and other artifacts to improve quality of deliverables across the team

  • Manage and train business systems analyst in all aspects of the project lifecycle from initiation to closing, to ensure that the technical solution meets business needs

  • Review, revise and establish Business Analysis standards and processes aligned with industry best practices

  • Develop repeatable estimation techniques for Business Analyst deliverables to provide realistic efforts

  • Ensure compliance with standards and practices to establish higher quality deliverables

  • Collect and analyze metrics to enable and lead continuous improvement of Business Analysis processes

  • Collaborate with other IT leaders supporting other areas of the company and disciplines to share ideas and to solution across the shared technology ecosystem including application development, system integration, business intelligence, security, infrastructure and other support related to strategic projects and support initiatives

  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, and suppliers to build motivated teams with a shared focus on achieving results.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Manage team of permanent and contract business analysts assigned to multiple projects across the organization.

  • Foster a positive and engaging work environment for each team member by promoting skill development, coaching for improvement and growth, inspiring others through your words and actions, ensuring positive employee engagement, and embracing our mission, vision, and core values.

  • Provide direction and coaching to the team to expand knowledge and capabilities. Establish and reinforce a value-driven and disciplined approach to establishing system requirements.

  • Recruit, develop and retain staff. Actively manage team performance. Define and communicate annual goals, perform formal and informal performance reviews, and communicate changes and updates in a timely and professional manner.

    Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, or Management Information Systems or equivalent experience.

  • Five years of Business Analysis experience on projects where Information Technology was a primary component

  • One to three years of direct management of business analysts including hiring of staff, managing performance, assigning resources and supporting staff in career and skills development.

  • Demonstrated ability to apply disciplined and rigorous approaches to analysis that include object and entity-relationship modeling, state-transition diagramming, and related approaches to custom developed application.

  • Demonstrated ability to support digital capabilities (e.g., development of interactive web-based applications).

  • Formal traditional and agile business analysis experience and expertise

  • Experience working on projects requiring the implementation of custom and vendor-supported technology

  • Excellent communication, presentation and, interpersonal skills

  • Strong analytical capability; ability to think strategically, solve problems and recommend approaches and solutions

  • Data Management experience, database knowledge preferred, and experience with MS SQL

    Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:

  • IIBA - CBAP and AAC Certification a plus

    Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Self-motivated and ability to work independently without detailed direction while managing sometimes conflicting priorities.

  • Ability to solve complex problems for issue resolution; creatively and resourcefully resolve issues while applying sound judgment and accountability.

  • Proven track record in performing under aggressive deadlines and effectively prioritize and motivate team

  • Experience working on projects requiring the implementation of custom and vendor-supported technology

  • Experience in client-facing roles and relationship building to develop a strong understanding of the business

  • Experience in Health Care delivery organizations a plus
