Manager, Learning and Learning Management Systems

Department Description:We are seeking a talented employee to join our HR team. This role, reporting into HR, oversees the Learning Management Systems Team and a team of elearning developers. This department is 8 years into our Cornerstone on Demand deployment and this role will require previous Cornerstone on Demand experience as well as elearning experience, preferably with Articulate Storyline.

Job Summary:As a member of the HR leadership team, this position is responsible for ensuring that the enterprise-wide Learning Management System (LMS) (Cornerstone on Demand) is maintained, optimized and well-aligned to the organization's learning/development & performance management vision. Serves as the key liaison to the organization and to the system vendor to provide a strategic educational technology platform to enhance learning objectives across the medical center and its affiliates. In addition, this position is responsible for providing consultation to education partners regarding LMS capability and measuring overall system performance. This role is responsible for the organization's e-learning function, including the oversight of the design, development, implementation and evaluation of organizational wide training. This leader is responsible for coaching and developing the learning management systems analysts team as well as the instructional design/elearning team.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Manages all aspects of the LMS to provide expertise and ensure consistency in learning design and methodology across a large (15,000 +) people healthcare system including oversight of shared mailbox (case management, consultation requests and project implementation.

  • Collaborates with functional training partners throughout the organization to ensure in-depth understanding of business needs for the system and that the LMS is aligned with these needs.

  • Strategizes with functional partners to educate and drive employees to the LMS for training needs.

  • Develops and measures the effectiveness and impact of the LMS by designing key metrics to maximize achievement of objectives.

  • Project-manages internal and external resources for project support of the LMS. Performs other projects as assigned related to the development and maintenance of the LMS.

  • Manages internal training design requests (elearning) ' review, prioritization and assignment of work.

  • Strong technical background capable of supporting large scale transformation of organizational unit design and support of the LMS data feed.

  • Manages vendors to ensure the seamless integration of high quality vendor products with existing LMS capabilities.

  • Negotiates pricing and contract details related to the LMS or integrated systems and manages the budget for the LMS and related projects.

  • Oversees installation of system updates and project manages appropriate resources and activities.

  • Has the authority to direct and support employees daily work activities. Has the direct responsibility to undertake the following employment actions: hiring, termination, corrective action and performance reviews. Direct Reports: One Indirect Reports: 6-10

  • Assists in planning, monitoring and/or managing budget in functional area of department.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Educational Technology, Organizational Development, HR required.

  • 3-5 years related work experience required and 1-3 years supervisory/management experience required

  • Minimum of three years of demonstrated experience implementing requirements for managing a Learning Management System.

  • 3-5 years experience in instructional design and facilitation for Learning and Development programs and initiatives, utilizing the ADDIE model.

  • Previous experience working with the Cornerstone on Demand LMS Learning Suite. Advanced elearning creation tool experience in Articulate, Captivate, Camtasia or equivalent required.

  • Advanced skills with Microsoft applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access and other web-based applications. May produce complex documents, perform analysis and maintain databases.

  • Team Work:Ability to lead collaborative teams for larger projects or groups both internal and external to the Medical Center and across functional areas. Results have implications for the management and operations of multiple areas of the organization.

  • Customer Service:Ability to lead operational initiatives to meet or exceed customer service standards and expectations in assigned unit(s) and/or across multiple areas in a timely and respectful manner.

Physical Nature of the Job:

Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Some elements of the job are sedentary, but the employee will be required to stand for periods of time or move through out the hospital campus
