Facebook Manager, Product Data Operations in Boston, Massachusetts

Summary:

The Product Data Operations (PDO) team trains and refines the efficacy of machine learning algorithms across our family of apps and products. As a Manager on the PDO team, you are responsible for managing a team of Product Data Operations Project Managers who partner with product, engineering, data science, vendor partners and scaled operations enablement teams to improve product features and user experience for Facebook and/or Instagram applications. Making Facebook’s applications better by providing insights to product development, minimizing bad experiences and shaping a healthy public content ecosystem is an important company priority you'll directly impact in this role. You will be required to showcase excellent leadership, people management, project management, problem solving, and communication across a highly cross-functional stakeholder base.

Specifically, this role will lead a team that designs labeling processes and protocols, including machine learning, measurement, data annotation. They also increases operational maturity across our labeling programs; ensuring metrics remain above agreed upon targets and partners with cross-functional stakeholders to set up and scale labeling experiments consistent with privacy, legal, policy, and communication guidance. The team drafts labeling guidelines, establishes tooling setup, conducts rater training and management and insights development and works with our partners to ramp up/down projects.

Required Skills:

  1. Provide motivational leadership to your team of Project Managers and enhance a strong team culture of trust and commitment to impact.

  2. Define vision, set and communicate team and individual goals, strategy, tactics and behaviors required to achieve medium and long-term goals.

  3. Create structure for your team to solve ambiguous business problems and partner with cross-functional teams to manage a portfolio of projects, and its underlying budget, to deliver against shared product outcomes.

  4. Leverage operational and subject matter expertise to act as a thought leader across a wide range of stakeholders including, but not limited to, Product, Engineering, Policy, Legal, Privacy, Partnerships, Communications and Global Operations.

  5. Shape actionable recommendations about complex issues critically and concisely.

  6. Be prepared to directly manage large projects and coordinate across stakeholders as needed to ensure the right resourcing, execution and communications are in place to deliver meaningful results.

  7. Develop an in-depth understanding of how Instagram develops AI in our products.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. 2+ years of direct people management experience in a complex, fast-moving project/program-based environment

  2. 6+ years of experience working in tech, operations or consulting

  3. Problem-solving, critical thinking and analytical skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience in the machine learning space
