What you’ll need to succeed as a Manager, Technology at XPO
Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related work or military experience
5 years of proven expertise building high quality software engineering solutions to applied business problems
Experience leading software engineering teams’ roadmaps and deliverables on high visibility projects
Hands-on experience with the development of customer facing applications
Experience presenting to Senior Leadership
Experience leading software engineering teams’ roadmaps and deliverables on high visibility projects
Knowledge of software development methodologies and processes in an Agile environment
Preferred qualifications:
Experience in the cloud – AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.
Experience designing, developing, and maintaining high performance web applications in .Net & Angular
Experience in defining, growing, and managing a diverse, extraordinary engineering team (on-shore, near-shore, and offshore).
Master’s degree in computer science or related field
Product mindset with a strong understanding of both technical and business requirements
Advocate for and implement engineering best practices, ensuring high-quality, reliable, and scalable software.
Effective problem-solving skills with a strategic focus on driving business value through technology

What you’ll do on a typical day:
You will be accountable for team deliverables and successful completion of team initiatives including the design, development, and implementation of customer facing applications. This role will work closely with peer managers, customers, vendors, senior management, related development teams, and other stakeholders.
You will have operational ownership to build and maintain web development systems in a fast-paced environment to help streamline these applications that support Shipping Quotes, Disputes, Tariff Updates, bills of lading, claims, shipment tracking and other relevant areas.
Operational ownership of business unit/systems which includes leading initiatives of various size in capacity and resource planning, project plans, project tracking, status reporting and actively influencing work efforts
Manages team budgets, authorize expenditures, monitor allocation and resources, and oversee project plans
Drives continuous improvement efforts and fosters innovation throughout all team activities; Design and implement measures and KPIs to monitor all aspects of development and delivery
Actively participates in determining customer requirements, developing solutions, assessing project viability, estimating new work effort
Effective management of staff, including hiring, counseling, termination, performance reviews
Employee and team development and coaching to increase bench strength and flexibility of teams
Actively drives work through continuous direct engagement with team members at all levels
Knowledge and accountability for compliance to XPO Project Development and SOX controls
