KPMG is currently seeking a Managing Director, Data Engineering and Operations to join our US Chief Data Officer organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the Global and US Chief Data Officer (CDO), the Managing Director, Data Engineering and Operations will drive the overall technical delivery and operations of the data products and services of the US Enterprise Data Supply Chain to improve the quality and value of critical business data to drive the KPMG trust and growth agenda

  • As an ambassador for the US Enterprise Data Supply Chain, this role will work collaboratively within the CDO organization, the KPMG technology organization and across the business functions to deliver a platform with scalable and repeatable tools and methodologies to provide differentiated data products and business outcomes; partners closely with peers within the CDO organization and within the KPMG technology organization to develop integrated roadmaps and plans to meet dynamic and complex business requirements

  • The Managing Director, Data Engineering and Operations will champion and implement a global delivery model that leverages the KPMG Delivery Network, as well as scale providers, to build and run a best-in-class data platform that is scalable, nimble and reliable to meet the dynamic needs of the business

  • Build-out a data engineering and data operations organization to build actionable, scalable, parameterized data products and services that are future-proof and fit-for-purpose to respond to quickly to changing market and stakeholder needs; responsible for ensuring coordination between data product and services teams and the technical delivery teams; including the assignment of data engineering and technical resources to agile pods

  • Responsible for ongoing Continuous Improvement/Continuous Deployment enhancements and establishing technical roadmaps, business cases and requirements to drive continuous improvement of the US Enterprise Data Supply Chain

  • Accountable for the management of the DataOps team defining and executing the DataOps strategy, process and controls, metrics and staffing model that are aligned to meet the service level requirements of the business

Qualifications:

  • Minimum twenty years of highly relevant experience, advanced knowledge of data engineering and data operations and technical leadership in a fast paced, dynamic environment; comfortable and motivated working in highly dynamic environment; must have a demonstrated growth mindset; possesses a demonstrated ability to set strategy and direction for an Enterprise Data Supply Chain and follow-up through on technical execution, delivering incremental value, in a culture of continuous improvement

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or Engineering from an accredited college/university

  • Experience building and sustaining credibility across senior levels of an organization; able to gain confidence, respect and trust and align priorities to business value and needs; Regional leadership experience and global perspective balancing the needs of an organization that is growing and scaling globally without losing local accountability and excellence

  • Strong leadership skills to build and develop a geographically dispersed team in a period of rapid growth and change, in a matrixed agile environment; has a focus on developing team members and creating bench strength through mentorship and coaching; strong communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate detail technical design with data engineering staff, as well as the ability to convey technical direction and status to non-technical stakeholders

  • Technical experience includes but is not limited to: experience leading the technical refactoring of enterprise critical data applications; experience building internet facing web applications with RESTful services; experience with native cloud, preferably Azure and traditional on-premises databases such as SQL server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, DB2, Hadoop; experience with continuous integration, automated unit testing, end to end services testing and related tools and technologies; experience building distributed, scalable and highly available/fault tolerant architecture; experience with automated packaging, deployment and continuous delivery; experience using Github or other Git based source control systems
