Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Consumer Health business to create a new publicly traded company. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 24 months, and it will be subject to legal requirements including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as required, and other customary conditions and approvals.

In that case, details of any planned changes would be provided to the successful candidate by New Consumer Health at an appropriate time and would be subject to any necessary consultation processes.

Johnson & Johnson’s Global Network Architecture, Automation, and Engineering is looking for Network Automation Manager to partner with the Network Software and Automation team in developing and achieving automation as a service in the Network domain, as we go through major transformation across Enterprise at J&J to enable programmability.

The Network Software and Automation team designs and develops pragmatic, reliable, and repeatable automated solutions through a combination of network engineering knowledge, DevOps practices, and coding. The Manager, Network Software Engineer will partner with the Manager, Network Automation Engineer in leading the Network Software and Automation team in the designing, developing, testing, and delivery of global automated solutions across Enterprise Networks, Cloud Infrastructure, and SDWAN. This role is instrumental in improving the organization’s automation framework and processes, along with leading and developing code and playbooks. The role will partner with multiple infrastructures, security, and operations teams, ensuring successful and efficient deployment solutions and creating corresponding documentation. The candidate must be able to transform complex problems and abstract concepts into executable technology solutions. Preferred Location: Raritan, NJ. Other US-Remote locations considered.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coach and mentor network and software engineers in infrastructure and container as code techniques, processes, and new technologies; enabling them to succeed.

  • Complete code reviews to provide feedback and educate network and software engineers with a focus on infrastructure and container in coding standards, approaches, and best practices.

  • Develop automation framework(s) for APIs, REST, and UI following guidelines, best practices, and coding standards.

  • Engage in and support the build and deployment pipeline for multiple environments, diagnosing and solving production support issues when needed.

  • Intake automation requests and review of internal manual process documentation in order to design MVP solutions

  • Consult with peer organizations and management on best practices for network automation standards and partner in developing a strategy to support global deployments at scale through automated solutions.

  • Collaborate and brainstorm about the best way to tackle a complex technological infrastructure, security, or development problem.

  • Perform incremental testing actions on code, processes, and deployments to identify ways to streamline execution and minimize errors encountered

  • Provide knowledge transfer sessions with peers and suppliers regarding changes in procedures, processes, documentation, and frameworks.

  • Partner with external service providers to provide talent and services to drive high standards

  • Drive innovation through automation of services and capabilities

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $97,000 USD to $166,750 USD.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS required and a degree in STEM field preferred

  • 6 years of relevant technology experience

  • Demonstrated experience programming in Python, Go, or JavaScript (JS, Node, or React).

  • Demonstrated experience in Git based SCMs.

  • Demonstrated Infrastructure as Code experience utilizing Python, REST, YAML, AWS CloudFormation, and/or Terraform

  • Demonstrated experience developing CI/CD pipelines, using containers and/or virtualization, and developing testing solutions.

  • Demonstrated experience with supporting traditional or cloud networks, with a highly available global production infrastructure

  • Familiarity with any of the following network automation tools: Ansible, Nornir, Salt, netconf, netmiko, python-napalm, or openconfig

  • Basic understanding of network routing and switching (BGP, EIGRP, L2/L3 VPNs, IPSEC) required

  • Ability to analyze, organize, and provide in-depth code reviews

  • Passionate about test-driven code and ability to produce simple and elegant solutions

  • Excellent written and oral communication skill with experience communicating highly conceptual designs to executives, mid-level management, and peer engineers.

  • Travel is required up to 10%

  • Experience in a similar role with a development or IaC focus preferred

  • Experience working in and with Agile, Scrum and Kanban work processes

  • Familiarity with Jenkins, Atlassian Suite, HashiCorp Vault, and/or Robot Framework

  • Current knowledge and demonstrated understanding of multi-cloud networking solutions

  • Experience leading development life cycle process and best practices

  • Working knowledge of software development methodologies
