We are looking for an experienced Platform Engineering Manager to lead and drive a team redefining the way Siemens DISW uses modern software engineering principles to implement, deploy, support and operate our software business. This role requires someone who has a clear vision of what an excellent engineering platform can do and is passionate about helping teams utilize it.

You must have a track record of leading sophisticated roadmaps and have demonstrated skills in working both inside and outside the organization to coordinate and influence highly technical teams to deliver & promote a flexible and effective platform for our software engineers. Success will be measured by adoption of this platform by other engineering teams inside Siemens, customer happiness (IE: developers), and several operational metrics.

Responsibilities:

  • Enablea strong, cohesive and forward-thinking team of engineers with the context,vision, skills and tools required to succeed.

  • Presenttechnical concepts & solutions to internal and external audiences and uppermanagement, persuade and influence others through interpersonal skills.

  • Takeownership for the coordination and development of the team-high-level roadmap,striking a balance between feature-forward work, maintaining a reliableplatform and paying off technical debt.

  • Helpdrive culture change by providing mentorship and by training agile engineeringteams in the adoption of DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE).

  • Proactivelyand continuously drive platform wide quality improvements enabling developmentgroups to move faster; by analyzing key SLO/SLI metrics as well as enabling andadopting a postmortem culture.

  • Developand implement solutions for non-functional software applications requirementswithin the engineering platform with an emphasis on leveragability acrossdevelopment teams.

  • Understandingand alignment to operational processes ensuring compliance with industrystandards (ISO/SOC2) and internal risk management policies.

MinimumQualifications:

  • 3-4years proven track record in a technical management role.

  • Experienceencouraging and developing emerging engineers along with outstandingprofessionals.

  • Hands-onexperience with Containers, Kubernetes, and the Cloud-Native ComputingFoundation (CNCF) ecosystem, and operating applications at scale within those environments.

  • Experienceworking with and operating in AWS, but also a general understanding of othermajor cloud vendor ecosystems (GCP, Azure, Alibaba).

  • Expertknowledge of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery practices (GitLabecosystem preferred), Site Reliability Engineering, and Agile/Lean processes.

DesiredExperiences:

  • Experiencedin the development of an engineering platform (Iaas/PaaS).

  • Desirableto have experience working with applications that have undertaken amicroservices transformation.

  • Solidunderstanding of security standard methodologies and common compliancecertifications (IE: SOC2, ISO 27001).
