Facebook Postdoctoral Researcher, Systems ML (PhD) in Boston, Massachusetts
Facebook's mission is to give people the power to build community and bring the world closer together. Through our family of apps and services, we're building a different kind of company that connects billions of people around the world, gives them ways to share what matters most to them, and helps bring people closer together. Whether we're creating new products or helping a small business expand its reach, people at Facebook are builders at heart. Our global teams are constantly iterating, solving problems, and working together to empower people around the world to build community and connect in meaningful ways. Together, we can help people build stronger communities - we're just getting started.
The Systems ML team focuses on the frontiers of machine learning and AI by developing novel algorithmic, software and hardware technique and by carrying out cutting-edge research in the intersection between Systems and Machine Learning. We aim to develop a broader and deeper understanding for critical but underinvested research directions for AI systems, from the design of programming framework and the compiler to the variety of AI hardware-software co-design. To increase the usability of AI systems and performance portability, we develop software system stack to unlock the performance potentials promised by the AI hardware. Furthermore, as AI becomes more and more pervasive, we must innovate with responsibility in mind when building the next generation AI systems and by developing greener, more fair and secure AI technologies. In this role, you will embed deeply with researchers at Facebook AI and develop prototypes at the frontier of AI research. You will engage with research work in the intersection between systems and machine learning; build deep expertise with Facebook data and tools; apply high standards to the research code around you and develop abilities to identify and carry out highly impactful projects in a complex and unexplored domain. You will gain valuable experience in Systems and ML, publish academic papers and thereby advance the field of AI.
