Humana Principal BI Engineer - Human Capital Analytics in Boston, Massachusetts


The People Analytics team at Humana takes a customer centric approach to optimizing talent outcomes and improving the associate experience. We provide advanced analytic products and consulting to our Enterprise business leaders and HR centers of excellence. The Business Intelligence Principal will enhance and mature the vision of People Analytics at Humana. The principal will serve as product owner and lead the development of analytic data products utilized by our business customers and CAO organization. They will lead and develop a team of business intelligence engineers. The principal will partner and consult with executives in the business, communicating the road map, setting OKRs, and executing on a customer-centric approach of delivery.


  • Direct leadership of team members.

  • Support, train, mentor team on requirements gathering, dashboard development, and dashboard architecture.

  • Own the end-to-end development of analytic dashboard products through agile methods while overseeing data management, governance, and data modeling.

  • Assess data services business processes and recommend improvements and responsible for integrity of HR data set in HR data warehouse.

  • Advises one or more areas, programs or functions and provides recommendations to senior executives on matters of significance, and as an advanced subject matter expert competent to work at very high levels in multiple knowledge and functional areas across the enterprise.

  • Partner with HR Leaders, HR Digital & Technology, Information Technology, and Digital Health & Analytics.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree and 10 or more years of experience in data analysis and business intelligence

  • 2 or more years of project and/or people leadership

  • Advanced experience working with big and complex data sets within large organizations

  • Lead PowerBI Analytic Dashboard Architect/Developer for CEO, CAO, and Enterprise People Leader dashboards.

  • Advanced proficiency in PowerBI, Tableau and/or other data visualization tools

  • Expert proficiency in SQL

  • Experience with MS Stack, Azure Cloud and/or Python

  • Knowledgeable in R, SAS, SPSS, and/or alternative statistical software

  • Oversee Workday Dashboards and interactive tools/reports

  • Experience with product development methodologies; human centered design, lean start-up, and agile.

  • Proficiency in verbal and written communication to senior and executive leadership

  • Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Degree in a quantitative discipline, such as Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering or related field

  • Experience with people systems and technologies
