Microsoft Corporation Principal Program Manager - remote in Boston, Massachusetts

The Azure VMware Solution Deployment Engineering team is seeking a Principal Technical Program Manager with a “can do” attitude, a passion for solving hard problems, and a commitment to help build the best cloud business on the planet for VMware-based workloads. The team’s mission is to accelerate the deployment of VMware-based workloads from on-prem or hybrid environments to Azure VMware Solution for marquee enterprise and corporate customers. This role represents a strong opportunity to have direct impact on both our products, our strategy, and our customers’ success.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with customers in the migration or deployment of large-scale VMware infrastructure projects and a deep background in VMware technical architecture and operations.

Preferred Location: Redmond, WA - Open to other locations and/or remote.



  • Drive rapid customer success by providing technical advisory, best practices, and guidance to help customers and partners predictably migrate to Azure VMware Solution, while avoiding pitfalls and common mistakes

  • Support the systematic deployment of large-scale VMware customer estates onto Azure VMware Solution

  • Spearhead customer-led innovation by becoming design partners to Product Management and Engineering teams. Offering platform feedback into Product teams to ensure Azure VMware solution is optimized for customer workloads and making Azure VMware Solution the best cloud to run VMware-based workloads

  • Co-engineering initiatives with core Product and Engineering teams e.g., reference architecture development and customer zero testing

  • Democratizing knowledge by contributing to technical documentation, writing whitepapers and blogs

  • 5+ years of Professional Program Management Experience

  • Technical strength as a practitioner in foundational VMware Technologies - vSphere, vSAN and NSX.

  • Understanding the challenges of migrating and operating large-scale mission critical applications (e.g., SAP) on VMware. Program management of enterprise grade software solutions on VMware

  • Strong presentation skills, success in consultative and/or technical leadership (e.g., architect) with sophisticated and complex customers and projects

  • General Azure knowledge


  • Highly desirable is depth practitioner skills in one of more of these product areas - HCX, SRM, Horizon, vCloud Director and vRealize

  • VCAP or VCDX certification desirable

  • Desired bachelor’s degree or higher in Information Systems, Computer Science or a related field
