Job Description:

The Systems Engineer is accountable for the system level design and integration of laparoscopic surgical products that are part of broader surgical systems. In this position you will lead the architecture, requirements definition and systems integration of multiple subsystems. The candidate will be a natural problem solver and will contribute to all aspects of the new product development process. You will provide technical leadership in systems architecture, definition, integration, and systems engineering processes across a variety of skilled SMEs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for driving the system architecture and subsystem integration for the system of interest.

  • Accountable for system performance, ensure requirements are satisfied by the architecture.

  • Collaborates across mechanical, electrical, software, and cybersecurity systems engineers and SMEs to build robust product architectures.

  • Architects electrical and software designs of highly sophisticated medical devices

  • Ensure systems design and documentation meet all safety and regulatory compliance, and IEC standards for medical devices.

  • Develop detailed product requirements, engineering specifications, system architecture, detailed component specifications, verification and validation test protocols and reports.

  • Collaborates with the team to drive standardization and harmonization of MBSE techniques cross the systems engineering organization.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Minimum of B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related science / engineering degree with 6-8 years of applicable industry or relevant military experience

  • OR M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related science / engineering degree with 4-6 years of applicable industry or relevant military experience is required.

Experience and Skills:

Required :

  • Track record of delivering complex systems and leading multidisciplinary teams.

  • Strong electrical design and analysis skills, including an understanding of electrical systems / subsystems and how they interact with overall system design.

  • Knowledge of International Standards for development of medical devices such as ISO-14971, ISO-13485, IEC-60601, IEC-62304

  • Experience with tools such as Jira, Jama, Agile, etc.

  • Proven ability to influence and lead across multi-functional teams at all levels with no direct authority.

  • Ability to resolve software and hardware integration issues.

  • Strong understanding of hardware-software rules and protocols.

  • A results and performance driven demeanor with strong sense of accountability.

  • Experience working across engineering teams to deliver a cohesive product design.

  • Experience translating high-level customer needs into technical options, analyzing the tradeoffs, and driving to solutions.

Preferred :

  • Experience as a systems engineer bringing products through the development lifecycle, from concept to release.

  • Experience with medical devices.

  • Familiar with secure by design practices and incorporating security into the New Product Development lifecycle

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $113,000 to $195,500. The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/ performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
