PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

A bit of background, we are an energy brokerage assistant that acts as an expert guide into the energy market for small to medium-sized businesses. Breakerbox focuses on using technology and data science to inform best practices in retail energy markets, capital investments, and efficient usage while always keeping in mind the environment and sustainable practices. Our mission is to help consumers like you pay a fair price for a necessity product like energy.

In this role you will be working with our Head of Design to convert stakeholder needs, user insights, and concepts into highly polished, pixel-perfect interactive digital designs.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

Work with product, engineering, and customers to convert needs into product designs

Designs include interactive web / mobile pages, digital and physical ad content, etc.

Contribute to the development of the BreakerBox brand and identity

Are as passionate about designing elegant user experiences as you are about using human insights as a source of inspiration to solve complex problems

Ensure that our web and product content is functional, beautiful, and accessible across desktop and mobile devices

Are a natural systems thinker, solving big, hairy problems by logically visualizing complex systems, user interaction flows, and beautiful interfaces

Have experience optimizing video and image assets for web and mobile

Create web prototype templates of user interface elements and components for the development team to implement into the product

Collaborate across design, marketing and product leads, working closely with developers and other designers to produce high-quality creative work

Are agile and able to nurture a cohesive product vision and finesse visual designs at a vector or pixel level, if necessary

Qualifications

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS

Minimum:

1-2 years of interaction design experience in a product role at a start-up, digital agency, or design consultancy

Bachelor’s and/or graduate degree in Interaction Design, Graphic Design, New Media, HCI, or something similar

Excel in a variety of design tools such as Figma (preferred), Framer, Principle, Adobe CC suite, HTML/CSS/JS

Have experience in properly agile environments (tight sprint planning, standups, retros, etc.)

Bonus Skills

Experience building B2B SaaS products

Experience working in energy or financial focused product environments or projects

Responsive design experience

Familiarity with A/B testing, conversion rate optimization, and user behavior analysis (Hotjar, CrazyEgg, Google Analytics)

Familiarity with Git and front-end frameworks such as React, Foundation or Bootstrap

Experience with After Effects or other motion graphic tools

Competent in the basics of HTML, CSS, and Javascript

Knowing some JIRA
