Facebook Product Management Lead, Location Platform in Boston, Massachusetts

Summary:

Location is a key context to Facebook’s family of apps. Whether searching for things for sale near you on Marketplace, asking for daycare recommendations in a local parenting group, sharing your ETA when running late on Messenger or WhatsApp, or location tagging your story on Instagram – products are better when they understand where you are. Location Platform builds both the horizontal platforms teams across Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp build on; as well as vertical products like local search on Facebook and Instagram, location tagging photos, Facebook Nearby Friends, and Messenger Location Sharing.Location Platform is part of the Facebook Reality Labs team to help define and build new products and technologies for the next computing platform. We are looking for a leader to come and help shape from the start how this platform will be location aware and help people connect with people, places, and things in the real world. Facebook brings a unique set of strengths to this space from the social connections, rich shared content, and active businesses in our apps; and we want to combine these into new experiences to explore the world around you.As Product Management Lead, you’ll help define the multi-year roadmap of location products and technologies towards AR devices, as well as product development across Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp to accelerate it. You’ll help guide the core location platform that is at the heart of features like Marketplace, News, Jobs, Search, etc., working with teams across the apps to make product, technical, and privacy decisions. AR will present new interaction design paradigms, an always-available interface, and new problems to help people solve. We are looking for you to help shape the roadmap for what problems to be focused on solving first, how to solve them in a Facebook unique way, and build out the technologies and products that will eventually ship on AR glasses.The ideal candidate has experience working on geospatial or local software, new consumer social product development, working to shape roadmaps spanning several product groups, and growing and leading teams of product managers.

Required Skills:

  1. Lead the ideation, technical development, and launch of innovative products

  2. Establish shared vision across the company by building consensus on priorities leading to product execution

  3. Drive product development with a team of world-class engineers and designers

  4. Integrate usability studies, research and market analysis into product requirements to enhance user satisfaction

  5. Define and analyze metrics that inform the success of products

  6. Understand Facebook’s strategic and competitive position and deliver products that are recognized best in the industry

  7. Maximize efficiency in a constantly evolving environment where the process is fluid and creative solutions are the norm

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. 8 or more years of experience with product launch

  2. 8 or more years of experience with product management or product design

  3. 8 or more years of experience with user interface
