What you'll do here:

Our product teams work to meet the needs of educators and students, collaborating closely to find solutions that are valuable, viable, usable, and feasible. As a Product Manager, you will help define the overall product strategy for Gale’s award-winning In Context product line, an established suite of student-facing learning platforms for the K-12 market.

Reporting to the Senior Product Manager, you will own the content strategy for the In Context suite of products. By developing hypotheses, analyzing market trends, and testing ideas in the market – you will lead the way in ensuring content aligns to user needs. Similarly, you will partner with other product team-members to ensure alignment of product and content strategy.

In Context is a product line with over 10 million pieces of discrete content sourced from a variety of providers. In your role, you will apply product analytics and data to improve the instructional impact of this content. As a high-visibility member of the team, you will work to empower both software and content teams in the execution of the overall vision.

Why you’ll be successful

You are driven by a desire to help educators meet the needs of students and believe that technology is a way to positively impact learning outcomes at scale. You are naturally curious, always questioning your own assumptions and empathetic to the needs of both users and cross-functional team-members. You look to use both quantitative and qualitative evidence to challenge assumptions. Unafraid to advocate for what is right, you serve as the voice of the customer and help ensure that solutions are always user centered. With a detailed understanding of curriculum development, you provide a clear narrative, helping to unite and empower both content and software development teams in a shared mission.

As a Product Manager, you will:

  • Own the high-level content strategy roadmap for the In Context suite of products

  • Work across teams, including software development, content development, content engineering, marketing, and sales to set and implement the content strategy

  • Conduct market research and bring the voice of the customer to cross-functional teams

  • Use product analytics to inform strategy and improve organizational understanding of content usage and curriculum coverage

  • Partner with the Sr. Product Manager to define a platform strategy that prioritizes the meaningful display of content, including improved search and indexing

Skills you will need here:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Demonstrated understanding of the techniques and methods of modern product discovery and product delivery

  • 4+ years of experience working on technology-powered solutions, either as a product manager, product designer, engineer, data analyst, data scientist, or user researcher

  • Background in K-12 education and expertise in curriculum development

  • Strong data analytics skills and a proven track record of contextualizing large data sets and problems

  • Demonstrated ability to take on difficult problems with multiple constraints

  • Outstanding ability to present evidence-based proposals, including in written narrative form

  • Demonstrated curiosity and ability to pick up cross functional knowledge (engineering, design, marketing, sales, finance)

Even better if you have:

  • Experience with Google Analytics, SQL and/or Microsoft Access

  • Experience with search optimization, including indexing

  • Experience in curriculum development at scale (I.e., at the school, district, or product level)

  • Master's degree

  • Pragmatic Marketing training
