Boston Properties Project Manager, Business Applications in Boston, Massachusetts
Manage the overall direction, coordination, planning, execution and completion of projects. Projects include both technology and business process-related deliverables. Build relationships with technology and business partners and successfully balance the needs of the project stakeholders with the objectives of the project. Lead and drive projects to completion while ensuring consistency with company strategy, commitments and goals. Provide post go-live support to teams and focus on continuous improvement for implemented technology and processes.
This position leads projects in the definition and execution of their scope, goals, work plans and resource plans.
Oversee the execution of multiple projects, resource deployment and overall coordination efforts to ensure initiatives are completed on schedule and to budget.
Collaborate with key business stakeholders to define business cases, project scope and objectives and work with various stakeholders on technical feasibility, planning and delivery.
Obtain management and client agreement with the project plan and timeline, and advise on any obstacles or resource needs that may affect completion of the project as planned.
Assemble the project team, identify competencies, and assign resources to tasks that align with each individual’s knowledge, skill, and abilities.
Plan, direct and coordinate project activities through the entire project life cycle.
Provide post go-live support and continuous improvement for completed projects
Identify process improvements and efficiencies in standing or updated systems and work to address gaps between tools or information, if any
Create and execute plans and other required documentation designed to meet stated goals using project management tools and principles.
Meet budgetary objectives and make adjustments to project plans based on financial analysis.
Identify project issues and risks and recommend solutions.
Facilitate discussions to address issues including risk management within and across associated projects and present information to key stakeholders including committees, project sponsors and business leaders.
Drive teams to resolution of any project issues or risks, including facilitating mitigation strategies.
Create status reports for project sponsors and stakeholders that include key indicators of project progress, risk, and success.
Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs using appropriate verification techniques.
Conduct weekly project/program status meetings; document and distribute results.
Ensure the achievement of project objectives and drive business value by guiding teams through execution and stabilization.
Research and diagram business processes. Identify opportunities to create efficiencies.
Establish and manage relationships with clients, stakeholders and vendors.
Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the successful execution of projects.
Conduct project retrospectives.
Attend conferences and training as required to maintain proficiency.
Develop and optimize reports and inquiries using Crystal Enterprise, Microsoft Reporting Services and stored procedures.
End User Support
Resolve problems, escalate technical issues directly to vendors and partners, and work with vendors to ensure adequate technical and product-level support.
Respond to requests for assistance and escalate problems or requests as appropriate.
Assist in report development.
Create end user training materials.
Research, evaluate and stay current on emerging tools, techniques and product solutions.
Maintain documentation in accordance with policies and control requirements.
Conduct both one-on-one instruction and group training sessions.
A Bachelor’s Degree in Project Management or related field required.
A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience as a project manager for an organization of similar scope and complexity required – ideally with a public company.
Project Management Professional (PMP) / PRINCE II certification is a plus.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interface with all levels of employees on both the IT and business teams.
Excellent personal management skills emphasizing time management, organization, and attention to detail.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Strong understanding of IT concepts including relational databases.
Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services and/or Crystal Enterprise preferred.
Familiarity with development lifecycle.
Understanding of Scrum framework and its key components.
Possess a service orientation and attitude in working with others.
Be detail-oriented and methodical in solving problems and managing multiple projects.
Possess an aptitude toward learning technical concepts. Be results-oriented and a quick learner in supporting new products and technologies.
Solid teamwork and interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with employees and contractors.
