State of Massachusetts Quality Assurance Analyst in Boston, Massachusetts

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who can fill a *Quality Assurance Analyst *position within the Application Development Team. The work will take place on site primarily at our offices at 1000 Washington Street, Boston, MA, however, travel to other Boston locations will be required from time to time.

The Quality Assurance Specialist operates in an AppSecDev Ops environment and ensures that technology implementations are carried out according to defined business requirements. The role will be analyzing requirements, developing and executing test plans and test cases for various applications related to housing, licensing and registrations, insurance practices and regulated banking activities. This position requires gathering and understanding customer’s business and technical requirements, determining viable solutions, and working with customers on testing the solution.

The Quality Assurance Specialist has a high level of analytic skills, a moderate level of technical skills, and is eager to learn new things. Demonstrating service excellence, a pro-active and collaborative approach to service delivery, and a strong customer focus are all mandatory for the incumbent of this role.

Core Responsibilities

  • “Lead” role for gathering business requirements and for testing activities

  • Manage the entire testing effort from unit testing, system testing, integration testing, UAT testing, and simulated production testing

  • Work with end users and project team to clarify end user requirements and business requirements

  • Develop the testing strategy, work plan, resource requirements, and the project schedule for the testing effort

  • Assist the Project Lead in reporting testing results, status and exceptions to management

  • Identify opportunities to minimize project risks and escalate as appropriate

  • Provide documentation for gathered requirements

  • Operate as part of a work stream with development team members

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of business analysis and/or quality assurance experience

  • The ability to establish a traceability methodology to tie testing efforts back to specific business requirements and customizations

  • The ability to develop and implement testing procedures to be used by you and other testing team members including test scripts, execution, defect tracking, defect fixes and regression testing

  • The ability to provide matrix for tracking test results and status for each level of testing effort – unit, system, integration, UAT, and simulated production

  • Strong work ethic, and desire to be a team player

  • Proven time management skills

  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines

  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical staff

  • An enthusiastic and positive attitude

  • Demonstrated ability to document requirements and provide high quality system testing

  • Experience with modern frameworks and automated testing tools

  • Experience with QA Automation, planning and creation of automated scripts and/or the ability to write SQL queries and test scripts is desired

  • Experience working with relational databases, including SQL (required) and Oracle (preferred)

  • Agile/Scrum development methodology exposure, as well as a strong understanding of the suitability of these methodologies for certain development environments and types of applications

  • Experience in the complete development lifecycle, including requirements, development, QA, UAT, and release management

  • The ability to work independently as well as part of a team

Minimum Entrance Requirements:

Applicants must have at least (A) three years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional experience in electronic data processing, of which (B) at least one year must have been in work in which the major duties included computer systems analysis, or (C) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.

Substitutions:

I. An Associate’s degree with a major in the field of data processing or computer programming may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required (A) experience.*

II. A Bachelor’s or higher degree with a major in the field of data processing computer and/or information science may be substituted for a maximum of two years of the required (A) experience.*

III. A diploma for completion of a two year full-time, or equivalent part-time, program in a recognized non-degree granting business or vocational/technical school above the high school level with a major in the field of computer programming may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required (A) experience.*

IV. An official transcript from a recognized business or vocational/technical school as evidence of completion of a program consisting of at least 650 hours of instruction in the field of computer programming may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required (A) experience.

V. Graduation from the data processing course of a recognized vocational/technical high school may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required (A) experience.

*Education toward such a degree or diploma will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
