State of Massachusetts Quality Management Analyst (Management Analyst II) in Boston, Massachusetts

The Lemuel Shattuck Hospital (LSH) is seeking an experienced and committed Quality Management Analyst.

The Quality Management Analyst conducts research, compiles information, provides analysis, and makes appropriate recommendations; organizes, prepares, analyzes, tracks, and monitors information and communications; facilitates, organizes, and schedules meetings and conferences; drafts correspondence; organizes and maintains files, participates in meetings; creates reports; maintains spreadsheets and other types of electronic records; and special projects as assigned.

Please Note: This position is 37.50 hours per week, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Days off are Saturday and Sunday.

_Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):_

  • Develops, updates and maintains Access databases relating to the Quality Management Department specifically for Performance Improvement using Microsoft Office systems.

  • Prepare statistical reports, charts and graphs to display information relating to the Quality Management Department specifically for Performance Improvement using Microsoft Office systems.

  • Facilitates, organizes, schedules, and participates in PI/PCA meetings and conference calls; prepares meeting notes.

  • Active participant in Hospital & Laboratory Joint Commission surveys; maintains all records and reports related to TJC’s accreditation process.

  • Acts as a Microsoft Office Programs resource to other staff within the department by guiding staff through various computer terminal functions to create reports, graphs and charts.

  • Prepares annual, semiannual and quarterly reports for the Governing Body via the Performance Improvement/Patient Care Assessment Committee.

  • Types policies, procedures, correspondence, reports, tables, forms and other materials utilizing Microsoft Office Programs.

  • Provide assistance to hospital personnel and cross-functional teams concerning essential reporting and monitoring criteria.

  • Assesses office support operations and make recommendations for changes to improve the efficiencies of the operation of the workflow process.

  • Compiles reviews and analyzes statistical data and makes appropriate evaluations and recommendations regarding assigned special projects.

  • Develops expertise in the use of the Meditech system, specifically querying and data abstraction; converts Meditech reports into useable and useful formats (Excel). Maintains confidentiality regarding all areas of Quality Management Department functions.

  • Coordinates purchasing of supply/equipment requests for submission to administration.

  • Reviews, evaluates and prioritizes a wide variety of projects in order to obtain the most efficient utilization of resources.

  • Provides coverage in the absence of administrative staff, performing office duties as requested.

  • Monitors activities related to Environmental Rounds; confirms completion of work orders. Generates and shares compliance report.

  • Performs other related work as assigned.

_Required Qualifications:_

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of management science including problem solving and decision making.

  • Knowledge of statistical methods and techniques including sampling.

  • Ability to write concisely, to express thoughts clearly and to develop ideas in a logical sequence.

  • Knowledge of the methods of general report writing.

  • Able to prepare general reports.

  • Knowledge of the methods used in the preparation of charts, graphs, and tables.

_Preferred Qualifications:_

  • General understanding of the Joint Commission/CMS survey process.

  • Experience with auditing and/or other activities related to regulatory compliance processes.

  • Intermediate-Expert level computer skills, including: Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Visio.

Lemuel Shattuck Hospital is a fully Joint Commission accredited teaching facility that provides acute, subacute, and ambulatory care to patients referred by public agencies and private sector providers. Shattuck Hospital’s services help economically and socially disadvantaged patients to get high quality, cost-effective care from a staff that respects their dignity.

Located in the heart of Boston’s Jamaica Plain neighborhood, the Shattuck Hospital includes 260 inpatient beds including 115 Psychiatric beds and 28 Correctional Health beds. In addition, the Shattuck has a full outpatient clinic with many specialties that offers treatment to patients of the Department of Mental Health as well as Department of Correction inmates and community patients. The Shattuck hospital is on the forefront of substance use disorder treatment including a Suboxone clinic serving 200 patients. In addition to direct medical services LSH hosts and supports an array of services located on the campus, serving patients struggling with addictions and homelessness.

MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must have at least (A) three years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional experience in work simplification, management analysis, program analysis, methods analysis, economic analysis, fiscal analysis, financial analysis, budget analysis or in program administration or program management or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.

Substitutions:

I. A Bachelor's degree with a major in business administration, business management, public administration, industrial engineering or industrial management may be substituted for a maximum of two years of the required experience.*

II. A Graduate degree with a major in business administration, business management, public administration, industrial engineering or industrial management may be substituted for the required experience.*

III. A Bachelor's degree or higher degree with a major other than in business administration, business management, public administration, industrial engineering or industrial management may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required experience.*

*Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
