Meta Security Engineering Manager, Dangerous Organizations in Boston, Massachusetts

Summary:

Meta is seeking a manager with extensive experience investigating and analyzing dangerous organizations and cybercrime to support our Dangerous Organizations Team in Integrity Investigations and Intelligence (i3). This person will be responsible for supporting, developing, and scaling a threat investigations team with the goal of proactively identifying and responding to threats posed to Meta’s community of users. The team investigates complex threats, advances investigative methods, and uses innovative research approaches to protect people from credible threats of violence from dangerous organizations, including global terrorist organizations and cartels. The impact of this work is substantial, with the potential to affect billions of people who use our products.

Required Skills:

Security Engineering Manager, Dangerous Organizations Responsibilities:

  1. Support a team of security engineers and security analysts who discover, detect, investigate, and respond to threats from dangerous organizations

  2. Provide technical direction and guidance within the domain to team members

  3. Influence and align the organization’s vision and strategy, while engaging your team to develop and deliver specific roadmaps and projects. Ensure prioritization, resourcing, and timely delivery of this work within a changing business environment

  4. Coach, mentor, support, and care for the teams to enable long-term career development and success at scale

  5. Track operational metrics, key performance indicators, and team health to assure drive team excellence

  6. Work with, partner, and influence other teams to solve challenges related to a broad spectrum of threat actors based on investigative findings and key intelligence

  7. Build, cultivate, and maintain positive relationships with internal partners to identify and facilitate solutions to increase the impact of the team's work

  8. Identify and develop areas to scale aspects of our investigations

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Knowledge of dangerous organizations threats

  2. Experience in crisis management or incident response environments

  3. 5+ years experience of people management and organizational leadership

  4. Experience working cross-functionally with security engineers, analysts, project managers, technicians, policy partners, legal teams, communications and customers

  5. Experience in functional or scripting language (JavaScript, PHP, Python, OCaml, etc.)

  1. 3+ years of work experience, including hands-on technical management, experience leading a global security/investigative teams, and proven contribution at both strategic and operational levels

  2. Experience “threat hunting”, i.e. using threat intel to proactively and iteratively investigate potential risks and finding suspicious behavior

  3. Experience working with diverse communities and global teams

  4. Demonstrated interest in understanding the intersection of global security risks and technology, especially as it pertains to Meta

  5. Experience querying large data sets and SQL

  6. BA/BS or Master’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent practical experience
