Job Description Summary
Preparation of proposals/bids, contract negotiation and compliance with contract commitments and commercial risk assessment Impacts the team's ability to achieve service, quality and timeliness of objectives. Subject to Commercial policy objectives. Has independence in achieving commercial objectives within operating budgets and operating guidelines. There is moderate autonomy within the role to enter into/execute Commercial arrangements. High levels of Commercial judgment are required to achieve outcomes required.
Roles and Responsibilities
Technical applications integrated system solutions bid development.
Able to lead system architecture design and development, including initial drawings, for simple to complex integrated solutions.
Owns the technical analysis of customer inquiries, RFQs, to determine proposal requirements, scope of supply, and best equipment configuration solution.
Applications engineering leadership of technical team including EHS, product engineering, renewables product line and all other technical disciplines for proposals
Requires specialized technical knowledge across product lines with an emphasis on complete integrated system solutions.
Has ability to assess quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders or customers. Able to offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and standard solutions. Uses internal and external sources outside of known function to help arrive at best integrated system solution.
Able to lead functional teams as technical lead, with minimal resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity.
Ability to understand, analyze, and respond to complex technical specifications and documentation. Provide the optimum technical solution for protection and control system solutions for complex projects.
Prepare the technical Cost Estimate in detail with Proposals Manager for review prior to evaluation of the complete integrated solution by Management
Work in collaboration with Proposals Manager in the identification, evaluation and ranking of risks as well as developing a strategy to manage and mitigate identified risks to Company.
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an Accredited University or College
Minimum of 10 years of applicable experience in Protection and Controls
Working experience with Protection and Control philosophies, schemes, and standards.
Working knowledge of SEL, Siemens and ABB protection relays.
Working knowledge of Microgrids, PMCS, IEMS, SCADA and Cyber Security.
Preference for candidates with CSA, ANSI, IEC and IEEE (US focused standards experience).
Working knowledge of local area networks, communication schemes, platforms and protocols used to provide local and remote interrogation with substation protection relays, meters, fault recorders and other intelligent electronic devices (IEDs)
Working knowledge of substation and other network communication protocols (Modbus, DNP3 and IEC61850)
Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with ability to work in a team environment supporting Technical Applications development for integrated system solutions.
Technical knowledge and understanding of electric transmission system operation, maintenance, performance, power equipment and substation design.
Capable of generating network architecture and simple panel layout drawings in Visio/Excel.
Capable of generating protection single line diagrams in Visio/pdf.
