Aqueduct Technologies Inc. Senior Desktop Engineer in Boston, Massachusetts

Aqueduct Technologies is seeking a Senior Desktop Engineer for their customer based in Boston, MA. This position requires a highly motivated problem solver who can design and implement new solutions to meet the evolving needs of the business. Candidates must possess a strong working knowledge of the VMWare Horizon Virtual Desktop platform and strong experience managing physical endpoints using either the Ivanti Unified Endpoint Management (formerly LANDesk) platform or SCCM. Strong project management and time management skills are also necessary. The right candidate will work diligently to support our employee base and design, create, implement, and support both our physical Windows desktop and VMware VDI environments.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, deploy, and maintain company-wide desktops, both physical and virtual.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain technologies in support of an increasingly mobile workforce.

  • Responsible for maintaining and evolving tools used for deploying and managing endpoints.

  • Evaluate, test and package software and applications for mass distribution.

  • Automate common operational tasks through improved tooling and scripts written in PowerShell.

  • Serve as subject matter expert and point of escalation for all desktop related issues.

  • Collaborate with business teams and vendors to ensure desktops continue to meet the needs of the business.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain company standards for desktop configurations, application delivery and desktop security.

  • Conduct regular reviews and audits to ensure compliance to established desktop standards.

  • Evaluate and recommend laptop and desktop hardware upgrades where appropriate.

  • Respond to critical desktop related incidents, identify root cause, and provide resolution in an expedient manner.

  • Manage Active Directory and Group Policy, including creating and modifying user settings and policies.

  • Demonstrate strong cross-functional teamwork and influencing skills. Work effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.

  • Identify gaps in existing documentation and generate content to improve operational effectiveness.

  • Note that night and weekend work will be required to accommodate change windows and rotating on-call schedules.


  • Bachelor?s degree in Computer Science or related field

  • Minimum 5-8 years of IT experience, working in a similar capacity.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Must have a positive, professional attitude.

  • Strong knowledge of the typical technologies needed to support a Windows desktop environment.

  • Extensive experience managing VMWare Horizon Virtual Desktops and its supporting infrastructure.

  • Extensive experience working with the Ivanti Unified Endpoint Management suite of tools (formerly LANDesk) or SCCM to build and maintain desktops.
